restaurant.com is ruining by business. I had 2 guys approach me from the hotel across the street of my restaurant, they sold me on the fact that I would be featured nationally and the exposure was unlike any other sight out there. They said let us take some pictures and a menu and we will have you up in no time 4 hrs to be exact.

By the next day I had so many people coming in with these gift certificates. Until by the end of the week I went to my bank and my friend Robin told me that all the girls in the bank bought gift certificates for $1 and asked my if I will honor them. I felt sick and said their is a problem here.

After quick review of the accounting for the week, I realized that our profits were bleak at best and said there is something really wrong here. We had so many of those g/c this week why are we in such bad shape only to realize. The restaurant owners are the ones who suffer, people buy these g/c for a dollar and we give them $25 dollars worth of food and the waitresses make %18 gratuity on these things.

This was insane to me I also have to pay the guys in the kitchen who prepare this stuff. Bottom line is stop it now. Put up an article in your window of your restaurant and let these people know they are a scam like I did and you cannot honor those certificates, If they want to come back to same restaurant 6 months from now.

Advice from Experience

#2Consumer Suggestion

Mon, January 02, 2012

I am speaking from experience after we had many problems with RDC and getting out of the program.

Read your contract carefully and follow the EXACT steps to cancel your contract.  This includes mailing the cancellation notice to them (I would use some type of signature required delivery method), save all documentation showing you have completed all of the steps.

You will probably be required to have an 'Exit Interview' over the phone with them....schedule a time for this and if allowed in your state, record the phone call.  At the beginning of the phone call ask for the reps name and state that you are considering this call as your 'Exit Interview' or whatever they call it in your contract.  Write down the reps name and the date/time of the call.  You can also write down the phone number of the caller if you have caller ID or retrieve it from your phone records.

Both, in your cancellation letter and on this phone call, demand that they give you a current list of all outstanding certificates sold along with the name and email address of the people who purchased them.  If you do not get this information, they could later claim that you owe them the damages for many, many certificates should you stop accepting them.  You will need to demand this list periodically throughout your cancellation waiting period (usually 30-90 days).

The sooner you get the cancellation started the better.

Best of Luck!
