This company, Retrieval Masters Creditors Bureau, Inc. sent a message to my address a couple of months ago stating that I owed a client,North American Hunting Club, 12 dollars for a year's subscription to their magazine and such. Problem is, we had never subscribed to them in the first place, nor did we order any membership or magazines.

Not knowing that we had actually been sent magazines from them since a recent move across the country, I found them and figured it was legitimate so I paid the 12 dollars.

The problem after that was, they sent a second letter approximately 2 days later in the mail with a different account number asking for the same amount of money for the same client. I brushed it off thinking I'd paid the debt so it would reach them in a few days.

Yesterday, being over a month after all of this, I get a letter from them saying that I never paid or disputed the charges they sent. I had paid them the 12 dollars for the year subscription. I also have bank records that this company cashed my check that I sent them almost a whole month ago and they're saying I never sent anything.

I happened to stumble upon these other ripoff claims on this company and they're very right. I'd like this fraudulent harrassment to be stopped in its tracks !

IF I AM READING THIS CORRECTLY.... you never subscribed to the magazine but paid anyway ...

At this point, even though you paid the $12.00 for completion on this problem, I would obtain a copy of the cancelled check, then send a certified return receipt letter with the cert number on the letter stating you never subscribed to the magazine and erroneously paid the $12.00 and demand to know what address the magazine was being delivered to ...

my concern would be the collection agency is now going to try to soak you for "admin fees, attorney fees, etc" since you in essence validated the debt by paying it ... i would also send another certified return receipt letter with the cert number on the letter to the Maginze company stating you never subscribed to the magazine and should their records indicate you are a current subscriber you wish to immediately cancel the subscription. I would demand a reply from the mag company incase they or the collection company tries this again.
