Retro Distributors Pty Ltd Ripped off, sold 'expensive' Lux Audio HT8500 surround sound system for good price by Retro Distibutors Moorabbin, Melbourne Other
Approached by two guys in white van with Retro Distributors on the van and they also had shirts with the logo. Told me they had extra Lux Audio HT8500 sound systems that had already been paid for but they needed to get rid of the extra ones.
They took it out of the box to show me, showed me the picture and price in a US magazine (US$1650) and told me they'd sell it for a good price. They even gave me a 5 year warrenty with the receipt. The receipt has my name and final payment (AU$550) with their company details, date of purchase, etc. Even has the guys names at the top ('Tim' and 'Dan').
When i got home i looked on the net and found some fake website with the system specs and price from the US, but what gave it away was the scam websites i found with people writing about the same situation with the same company and even the same Lux Audio HT8500 system.
The company address is about an hour drive from me. Don't know if it'll do any good but thinking of going down there with some mates and 'politely' asking for a refund.
Beware of buying anything from the back of a van!
