I've been with Rewards 660 for 3 years now. Not one time have I borrowed a cash advance against my credit. Not one time have I paid a late payment. I've got a relatively perfect history with them. And recently our minimum payment amounts have gone up since they passed that new law, whatever it was, for credit cards to rip off it's clients even more. Every 3 months my statement says "because of your excellent credit history with us, you are entitled to a credit limit increase"............

Anyway, my gripe is this: This month, the one and only time I've ever called them to ask them could I please pay less than the minimum payment because of financial hardships I'm experiencing, they denied me with a flat-out NO. I was surprised, because I had in fact received an email stating my bill was coming up due (courtesy email they send; I don't request this) and it said if I am having any kind of financial problems to call for assistance in payment options. When I spoke to the CSR gentleman, he stated that there are no payment options. I asked what was the purpose of the email to state such a thing then? He couldn't answer that question (of course). No one can answer any questions about stuff like that. It's like the email was just a big lie, there's no help at all. So I was denied this one-time consideration of a lesser than minimum payment of $40 (The minimum was $25 not long ago). And on top of that, practically every single month - I pay at least $30-100 over my minimum payment! This is the only month I've needed to ask for a break.

Well, I wasn't rude to the CSR as I knew he went to management to ask and was told that I couldn't pay less on this month's payment. So I just kindly told him to make a notation in my file that as soon as I pay off my balance in 2-3 months, I will certainly cut up my card, mail it to them, and close out my account. After 3 years of $120+ annual fees; AND monthly maintenance fees of $8+ equaling approx $96 annually; AND $25 charges each time you get a $100 Cr. Lim increase every 3 mos in my case; AND interest rate of about 20% - I think they've made quite enough money off me since 2004! So I think it's time for me to move on down the road.

They've gotten rich off me alone, not to mention the millions of other accounts they have with other people who were desperate to repair their credit and start over new, making on-time payments and proving they've become responsible once again. I think the least they could've done was grant me a one-time favor of paying $20 instead of $40 this month; is that just way too much to ask - when I've proven myself extremely responsible with this account (as well as all other accounts I have elsewhere)?

I can do better. That's my attitude now. I've proven myself and worked hard to do it. To be treated with such disregard after 3 years of solid gold history, tells me it's time to move on down the road, for sure.
