Hi,

I was stupid, it was at the Bank of American at Manhattan Beach Village. As I was about to drive off he waved to me saying that hey do you like fashion, I have some jackets I want to give away free I just need a little help. So I thought we'll free i can always help someone. THen he went off on a sob story about how he lost $40k gambling and has nothing left. Maxed out his credit cards.

I even put a friend who speaks italian on the phone to see if he was faking the accent, but turns out he's really italian. Seems to me that they can only do this trick in different cities. He showed me his passports of him and his brother and how their last names matched. The younger brother looked sad and didn't say anything and I'm assumed it was due to the loss of $.

I thought I did all due dilegence as I checked passports, even drivers licenses from italy, as well as their Airline ticket on British Airlines leaving on Oct 14th. In fact, I didn't even want the jackets I figured I would help him out. I even asked to check the trunk for luggage and when all I saw were jackets I said where's your luggage? He said at the hotel I didn't want to bring it out with me...

I called the police today after seeing this, and they were going to make me fill out a report and all this bs. Finally frustrated I said go to British Airlines and check for flights leaving today to Italy, as I do recall that on the flight doc.

My theory is that this guy may fly all over the country doing this. He showed me his passport with the US immigration sticker on the same date as the flight coming in on his itinerary. So I think because so much of his story fit into place I found it hard to not believe his story...looks like it happens all over the country though. I wonder if there's an Italian workbook on how to cheat american's with counter fit Armani jackets.

Anyway that's the last time I'm a good human being to strangers. It sounds like the same guy from 11/23/04 as they drove the same White PT cruiser and I saw the cross protruding from his hairy chest. The police are useless here and I swear he'll do it again...

I just did a search and apparently he's done it multiple times this year. I don't know why this isn't consolidated in the same area... I'm going to report this one to the news too to see if we can get a scam artist segment done on this. Let's drive this guy OUT of Southern California....

I encountered the same guy in Manhattan Beach on 11/18. He was with an older guy, in his 40s and 50s who he said was the Manager. Anyway, while they were very convincing, I didn't get taken.

They are now driving in a dark green color late model small inexpensive SUV, possibly a Jeep Liberty or a Kia Sportage. I ended up getting the actual phone number of the guy's supposed father in Italy, I've seen it posted other places on this site with the last number as a 2 instead of a 7. Maybe someone can use the actual number (0111343283345007) to track these guys down. The guy also showed me his passport when he was really trying to convince me, and I noticed that the top of each page was perforated, something commonly done when a passport is no longer valid. I'm assuming that they travel under a different passport and that Danilo is not the guy's real name.

Hopefully this comment will help someone investigating this con artist.
