I purchased a vacuum from Richards Vacuum Center, LLC.  The vacuum stopped working after 5 years.  I took the vacuum to Richards Vacuum Center, LLC, to ask if they could fix it.   I was told by PENNY that I would recieve a phone call as soon as they assessed the problem.  I called them two weeks later, which was March 15, 2012 to ask if they could give me an estimate.  The service man spoke with me over the phone and told me that the ONLY problem was a switch. He told me that the switch was 12.50.  The service man offered to clean the vacuum.  I asked how much that would be.  He told me that the cleaning would be 69.95.  I though to myself that was a little expensive.  The gentleman and I added over the phone 12.50 + 69.95 = approx $90.  I told him that it was okay, that I would pay the $90.
Yesterday, when the vacuum cleaner was picked up, they show me a bill for $215.00.  I asked them why, and they added $120.00 for a Cord Reel Assembly.   I told them that I was never informed that my five year old vacuum had cord problems (and it didn't).
The fat lady Penny, and the gentleman told me that I did agree to that.
I was charged $215.00. I would have never paid $215 for a five year old vacuum cleaner.  I researched vacuum cleaners, and found that I could have bought a  brand new Miele S2 series for $255.00
So next time you deal with these people, you will be better off if you request a written estimate, or buy a new product.
Be careful with Richards' Vacuum Cleaners, LLC in Daytona Beach Florida, because they will charge you whatever they want.
