RIDGID Home-Depot batteries of X2, X3 are junk and they know it. Internet
Home depot has sold millions of Ridgid cordless tools, the tools are great the battery technology is the crappy at best. I own almost every cordless 18volt tools made by Ridgid, and have 5 batteries all for the X2 or X3 tool sets. The total number of batteries are (5) five 18 volts. I have gotten 3 years of good battery life, then the batteries simply quit working, can't be rebuilt, and stop taking a charge. I have Dewalt batteries that are 7 to 8 years old, all Dewalt batteries still working. When you go in to Home-depot they act as if this is normal for Ridgid cordless tool batteries to fail, and just simply buy another X2, X3 batteries.
The warranty Ridgid post, brags about is limited, key word "limited" Home depot to should credit anyone with defective battery or batteries at least half of new batteries. Instead they work around a 3year or limited life time warranty, if you posted on line. SO, receipt or tool ownership is not worth keeping faithful Ridgid owner, or to up graded tool purchase in the future. SO, they basically slap every Ridgid owner in the face. With the lack of customer support and not standing behind a poorly designed battery technology. The main reason people buy Ridgid, is not just the cost, it is the name brand of heavy duty strong tools known throughout the years.
This battery problem is not only frustrating it is not handled well for faithful Ridgid owners, I have read the new warranties for the X4 lithium-ion battery. The same is true, sign up on line, but don't use the tools in construction or normal use. the warranty is void, basically for just using the tools in a manner that is not conforming to the guidelines expressed in the warranty. all based on opinion of Ridgid not really standing behind the tools or the batteries. Many non-profit and for-profit consumers web pages express the new X4 technology batteries are the best now, yet all the customers who bought years ago get thrown away, sorry about your luck Ridgid owners, buy the new technology regardless of cost or who many sets or tools you own.
