As I balanced by checkbook online this morning I noticed a charge by a company called 866-467-2583. I investigated it a little further by getting more information on the company from the bank draft online and their name was listed as Long Distance CA.

I was charged for a long distance unlimited use package at $61.02 per month. I found this out by calling the number and talking to Pauline. I asked her what the company's name was and she told me HMS Blue. I also asked her who authorized this service. She told me that someone at my home authorized the service with my debit card on January 22, 2002.

I told her that I did not remember that and did she have a recording of the authorization or any record of it and she told me that she had never heard of recording authorizations.

When I asked her what kind of service they offered, she told me unlimited long distance at $61.02 per month.

I told her that I never received any information from her company and that I know better than to authorize a company to carry my long distance service at $61.02 per month since I do most of my long distance "talking" through email.

Also, she had absolutely no problem in refunding my money. However, I called back to talk to someone in customer service because I wanted to know more about their services.

When I called back, customer service told me that she could not help me and that I needed to press #1 when she transferred me back to the automated operator. I didn't press #1, I pressed #3 because I wanted to know why customer service could not help me because I was a customer, she transfered me again when I told her to wait.

We went round and round about 5 times like this, however, the other times, she wouldn't talk, just transfer.

Finally, she told me without letting me talk that she could not help me and that I needed to talk to someone in Billing. Then I was put on "forever hold". I waited and waited, then hung up.

I want to know who these people are and how they were able to get a hold of my debit card number. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I did not authorize this transaction. I already think that my phone bill is too high because I have to have Area Dialing Plus so that we can talk to my step-daughters. I would have NEVER authorized my phone bill to be increased by $61.02.

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!!! How many other unsuspecting souls has this company done this to? Now I guess I just have to wait to see if I will truly get a refund.
