Ripped Off On E-Bay
Five or so weeks ago I bid on a cordless telephone and was out bid by
another user. A couple of days later I was contacted by e mail by the
seller stating that he had another phone just like the one I had bid on.
And he would sell it to me for the same amount as my last bid. Being
a new user to e-bay I didn't know this was against policy and I agreed.
I sent the money order and two or so weeks later received the phone. My
wife and I immediately realized that the phone had been unboxed and
reboxed several times, and was not new as advertised. That was o.k.
since it was still in good shape and we needed a phone. I charged the
phone as per the instructions and tried to use it. The phone did not work
so I called Bell South to get help. I did what they told me to and they
determined that the telephone had a frequency misalignment and that
it could never had worked with this problem. I have to tell you, we were
pretty disappointed. At this time I got back on e bay and discovered that
this seller had in excess of thirty negative complaints and many were
for the exact problem I was having regarding cordless phones, and that
according to the reports he refused to do anything about it. So I'm pretty
pissed, now knowing that I am just one more of his cordless phone
victims. I sent him a not so nice letter expecting (hopeing) that the response
might be to (as I requested) exchange the broken one for a phone that
worked. Well he pompously responded that he would come to Texas
from Ohio and take the broken phone back and give me my money back
in person. I told him that as much as would like that it is probably very
unlikely and asked him three more times how he intended to rectify the
problem. He responded all three times with the same answer. Since I
am an ex police officer I decided to investigate this guy further. I e mailed
twenty nine other victims whos e mail addresses I got from e bay feedback.
The result is (and I will be more that happy to send the e mails I recieved to
you) that I am not the only person he has contacted this way and ripped off
like this with such a careless cavalier so what attitude. This seems to be
a pattern with this guy. He is not only sending out none functioning
merchandise and doesn't care that he is, he has no remorse, no regret
concerning the fact. Crooks like him should not be allowed to operate period.
I have e mailed both e bay and the postal inspectors office and both brushed
me off. I assume they have bigger fish to fry. So, this crook gets to operate
this way and no one cares. He gets to make a living ripping people off. This
is a sad, a sad state of affairs. That this, our society has gotten to the point
that its O K to steal as long as its not to much money and its not me.
Please help me and all of the other victims get our money back and maybe
stop this guy.
