Rite-a-way Plumbing Decided that the water heater could not be fixed, reported to the insurance company that my connections were not up to code and wanted money to do unnecessary repairs Riverside California
Water heater (4 year old) did not work. Insurance company (AHS) sent this company out and they determined it had to be replaced but would no replace it without upgrading connections, etc. This company serviceman insisted parts were not available and it could not be repaired since it stopped working as soon as he left my home. The second time he came out he was leaving with the gas fumes so strong I coughed and his reply was what fumes? I called the gas company again but the heater had ceased to work again. After having the manufacturer send parts for repair and being without hot water for 12 days this company STILL insisted it could not be repaired and the insurance company would not pay for the upgrades, insisted that I pay the $270 for the alleged necessary upgrades. It was to my advantage to take pictures of the alledged code violations which I did. One was that I did not have an earthquake strap around my water heater. My strap is a metal one as secure as it can be. The manufacturer insisted on sending their plumber out who fixed the water heater checked for code violations (there were none) and the gas company came out after the repair and confirmed there were no violations. All of this was done at no expense to me. I got written confirmations from both of them. Called and requested a stop order on the upcoming visit by Rite-a-Way to replace the unit as the other company hs completed the job within 30 minutes and the heater has continued to work. The insurance company did not want to know whether I was telling the truth so they are complicite in this scenario.
