March 4th, we signed a contract with Bob Cavanaugh. He and his partner Jared Rifinbury stated the job would be done in 2 weeks. This was to close in a porch and add in a half bath. They were going to bring help and they were do this and that..... Anyways, what we got after 2 months, 3 weeks was:Improper siding half installed, stucco over OSB in direct contact with the ground, bad paint job (never cleaned the walls and painted on the new windows), backwards faucet, cobbed in drain that leaked, walls that weren't level or straight, poorly installed trim, wiring sticking out of the walls and hooked to nothing, a door installed so it won't open all the way, heaps of garbage in the yard and driveway, and messes and stains in the house. Many things still need finishing and repairs.

They even owe us for a secong contract we signed to do stucco on the rest of the house, but he never started it. When I fired them, The code inspecter stopped in and called a police officer. Mr. Cavanaugh was not supposed to be soliciting contracts in our county. The contracts were illegal. He was working with no insurance for liability or workman's comp. He tells people he has an engineering degree but it is a certificate for something with water. Jared seemed okay in the beginning, but his lack of skills became apparent later on. He knew all about Bob and chose to bring him to our house. I caught Jared trying to break into our house while I was working in the garage. We found out that wiring and tools started coming up missing. They had to go. I tried to write a review on respond dot com where we found them, but they refuse to let my statement go on their site. If you look Bob up, he is neck deep in grand larceny and many other criminal acts. I wish we had looked him up first.

Went to court and also found a decent contractor

Found out in court that the contracts were in fact valid even though Bob never had obtained permit to solicite work. Sued Bob for almost $7000. Court sided with us for under $4000.  Bob has yet to give us any money. I don't know why the legal system allows this stuff to go on, but we keep trying.

Since court, we had a decent couple guys step in and finish/fix the bulk of the stuff. Before starting, it was pointed out to me even more problems. The 4x8 sheets of plywood on the floor were laid down wrong. The install was 90 degrees off and didn't allow for the tongue and groove to do it's thing. So that's why the floor was bouncy at the seems. When the stucco was pulled off, there was black mold on the osb. It took these guys less than an hour to pull the stucco off and clean up. The curved wall was a joke. After removing one side, a wall made of scraps was showing. Scraps. Unbelievable. This was built by a guy who claims to watch Holmes on Holmes as a fan.

I went downstairs to see what else got missed. I found nicks in the new wiring. Nothing labeled in the box. The more I looked around, it was pretty evident they lied about having an electrical inspector in our home. I found wiring moved to share breakers with appliances like our furnace.

Bob, we found out later, obtained his degree while in jail.

I really hope that people stop letting him in the door.
