These Guys Claim I owe $3250.00 to Fingerhut. RJM says that the debt was created in 1999,but it only showed up on Equifax in August 2002. I have filed a comlaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau. It is really strange that after 3 years it just now showed up on Equifax. Fingerhut has a bad reputation for its poor security. All Fingerhut catalogues have customer account numbers splashed across them, and Fingerhut will accept unsigned order cards. If someone steals your Fingerhut Catalogue they can order anything they want in your name, and then watch your doorstep for UPS to deliver it. Most of the time UPS dosent even get a signature for the parcel. Then you get a bill and wonder why. All fingerhut will say is that a delivery was made to your home and that you must have recieved it. Ergo ! You must pay!!

If you are away from home a lot and if you have ever tossed your Fingerhut catalogue into the dumpster you may become a victim. Clever thieves known as Dumpster Divers are on the lookout for your discarded mail. Some even go as far as to order merchandise and pay for it out of the victims bank account,or with their credit or debit cards. In the process,if a payment has ever been made on the fraudulant order,it makes it look like a legitimate
debt.
