Recieved a letter in the mail offering me a credite card (Visa) to help pay off a debt to RJM Acquisitions Funding who says I owe them $1,515.00. I had to look on the internet to find that this was a company name for fingerhut and I never had dealings with Fingerhut.

JUNK DEBT BUYER IS TRYING TO SCAM YOU

#2Consumer Suggestion

Fri, April 29, 2005

A new tactic that many of the "junk debt" buyers are using is to offer a "credit card" to help you pay off a debt that is either beyond the statute of limitations or not even your debt at all. What this does is effectively get the clock started again on the SOL, as you are actually "re-affirming" the debt.

It started out apparently that just the Sherman people were doing that, but guess more and more of the bottom feeders are playing copycat.

Make them validate that you owe anything..believe me, they can't.
