received legal looking letter from this agency, telling me i owed $228.85 from a debt dated december 1990. they even claimed i had payed them last on 7/15/91 they claimed this was owed to hsbc gold mastercard..and they offer three opportunities for me to pay them back. well it all sounded too fishy too me because first i was in the hospital in for almost a year in 1991, second i never had a gold mastercard, and well who in their right mind will wait so long to collect a dent. but the scary part is that they have my social security number almost correct. I was also strange that on their bill, they didn have a online address.

now, on this age of the internet, that a big company such as theirs does not have www address, another red flag went up. i went to the internet, and found this link, i read many testimonies about this
same company doing this scam to soo many people like me. well, i only hope we can by doing something go against this company legally and put them out of business, so people wont get scammed, specially the elderly and the low income people, people with less resources to know better that they are being scammed. lets all get involved and do the right thing.

Don't even deal with them!! File a complaint with South Carolina Attorney Generals office

#2Consumer Suggestion

These Mobster don't get it. The debt is SOL barred. Do us a favor and file a complaint with South Carolina Attorney Generals office. They have hundreds of complaints. The more complaints the more likely they will go after them.

Also File a complaint with FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. WWW. FTC.GOV. Do a compaint by fax or letter (using their complaint form.) Send them a copy of the letter that makes reference to the date of 7/91. The more complaints the more likely they will file suit.

STAY OFF THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT TALK THESE EXTORTIONISTS. DO EVERYTHING IN WRITING.

DO THE COMPLAINT WITH BOTH AND INCLUDE A COPY OF THE DOCUMENT THEY SENT. This debt is fraud. They will refuse to validate it. They are famous for that.

Under Federal law (FACT) they must provide the documents they led to the debt.
If it was fraud. This is what I understand.

Keep us posted

Good luck
