To whom it may concern:

I am writing this in regards to my experience and headaches at Toyota/Scion of Hampton, Virginia. My husband and I just came home from Operation Iraqi Freedom II and on our way to our next duty station in Montana, and decided we needed a new truck. Are first thought was how much we would like a new Toyota. Well if we knew then what we know now, we would of saved ourselves a lot of headaches. The service we received at Toyota/Scion of Hampton was what you would expect from one of those little dealers that you hear horror stories about and are warned to stay away from because they are all crooks. A total disappointment of what we had expected from a higher end dealer.

First not only were we lied to about what we agreed upon they try to make fools out of us. Lie #1: Our agreement had included a trade in with my car, a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier with 9000 miles on it in good condition. We were told we would get $7000 for the car in which we owed $9000 in which would tack on $2000 to the sticker price. Ok sounds good lets talk payments. Lie #2 we finally came to an agreement to pay $601 a month. We could afford that and all we needed to do is put $3500 down payment. No problem.

Well we went back to a finance person who said her job is to make sure everything is legal and to tell you about Gap protection and extended warranties! Ok sounds good since we will be traveling to Montana soon to our next duty station, we might need that. But when I asked her what does this $3000 mean in this column or what does that mean total price $38749 mean? Is that what we are paying for in the end? Her response, Uhh. Well I don't know you'd have to talk to a sales manager about that! But wasn't she the finance personnel? As we are walking out of the finance office confused the dealer who was helping us walks up to tell us the bumper is dented on the brand new 2005 blue Tacoma! But offered us silver Tacoma with fewer accessories but for the same price! Unbelievable! So my husband solves the problem and tells the service manager to switch bumpers from one of the other trucks. Oh yeah good idea. So when we finally get a good look at the paperwork we realize we only received $3000 for my car but was told $7000. We brought it to the attention to one of the sales manager who then said well I don't know. And every questioned I asked no one knew. They couldn't tell me anything. What kind of Morons runs this place? They can't even answer the simplest questions. So now they realized the messed up, do some refinancing bring the price down, maybe cut their commission down a little, not much but maybe some, and call us in to re-sign some papers. Still the same problem! And I guess my husband and I should of used our better judgment and just said forget it but we had our heart and depended on that truck to get us to Montana with all of our belongings, so we were in a Bermuda triangle.

Fast forward, we drive to Montana waiting on our new account numbers and paperwork about the truck that supposed to come before our 30 day tags run out and now they call my mothers house in Virginia to tell us to come down on Monday to sign some papers? Three weeks later and we still have papers to sign? What is going on? Toyota and I think just about everybody in that dealership knew we were going to Montana that next week! They had assured us everything that needed to be done was done! I might not know all the fine details that go along with buying a car and how to do it well but I do know that this is the worst experience of my life. It is so bad that I would hope this could never happen to anyone else. I didn't even think this could be legal. It is really sad when a company takes advantage of the very people that keeps them in business. To take advantage of military veterans of war that fought for their own freedom! We might not be happy with our situation but I know we will get over it. But we will always remember the way we were treated and we will be able to tell our story to other Hard Working Americans that deserve better. One voice and others will follow.

Hey Kim read this and Read it real GOOD. Don't be a FOOL KIM!

Kim I at one time sold cars for a living. I remember a salesman told me one time the following. If you get your customer to like you, you can take more of their money. Later I found what he said was VERY TRUE!

I got a guy to like me so much I was able to sell him a Nissan car and put a $3362.14 pay voucher in my pocket. Two hours and WHAM! $3362.14 went into my pocket. Want me to post a picture of the pay voucher Kim?

Car buyers are like girl friends, If they like you, You can stick it in much deeper and they will NOT complain about it. They even go home happy! Many of the car buyers that are happy with their car deal are the ones that got hosed DEEP and they don't even know it.

That's why I tell car buyers to NEVER buy a car from a car dealer you like, nor should you buy a car from a sales person you like. If you do you will put yourself in what I call the 'UCZ" The "Unsafe Comfort ZONE"

If your warm fuzzy friend sold you a car, ask him or her to show you their pay voucher on YOUR car deal! I bet they will NOT show it to you! Cause they might have went DEEP on you. Funny part is you like them! SUCKER!

You want to believe they like you, You want to believe they will help you get what you want. WRONG! Many will help slide you over to some used sled that will put a bigger gross pay voucher in their pocket.

Read the Rip Off Reports and you will read where some car buyers have posted

'They told me my credit was NOT GOOD ENOUGH to buy a new car and that it would be much easier for them to get me financed in a used SLED!

Why do you think a car salesman would walk a car buyer to a used car? So the buyer can't ask to see the invoice! Car buyers can't find out what the dealer paid for the USED SLED. BIGGER PROFIT for the dealer, BIGGER PAY VOUCHER for the salesman. Why do you think so many NEW car dealers have MORE USED cars on the front line then they do new cars? BIGGER PROFIT in used cars then new cars.

Smart car buyers can't ask to see the invoice on a used car.

To get a good car deal you need to NEVER buy from a car dealer or sales person that you like. NEVER search for that warm fuzzy feeling when you buy a car. If you want to buy from a car dealer or sales person you like, you are giving away your hard earned money like a FOOL!

Walk in a car dealer and ask to speak to the SALES MANAGER. Tell him that you know that they have a few Rip Off Reports at ripoffreport.com Then tell them that if they don't sell you a good car and a good price you will walk out and they will have a new Rip Off Report. But NEVER LIKE any of them!

NEVER buy from anybody you like! Searching for that car dealer you like will only get you HOSED!

Kim what happends when you find that so COOL GUY you always wanted to meet, The one that is so nice? Sooner or later you will find out what he wants to DO TO YOU! Car sales people you like will do the sames thing if you like them!

If you like a car dealer, If you like the sales people, YOUR PANTS ARE DOWN! Wake UP! FOOL.

This is in response to the previous post I have bought several cars from rk both in Va Bch and Hampton. I think are just as many opportunists out here in our world who try to "get something for nothing" I have had nothing but pleasurable experiences with RK ,as well as, every customer I have referred to them. Your story sounds like a bit of a sob story and is quite unbelievable to me. Again I have had nothing but GREAT customer service from every department at RK :)

Jessica blame the fact that there are many UNINFORMED car buyers becuse of the media not willing to expose car dealer scams. Advertising $$$

Jessica car buyers are not informed consumers because of the media. It's the Media that will not bring auto dealer scams under the spot light so the American consumer can become an INFORMED CONSUMER!

When was the last time anybody ever seen a TV station, Talk Radio station or a newspaper ever expose scams in the auto industry? NEVER They would much rather reap the benifits of the car dealer's advertising money.

Put the media to the test. Go to the below URL and try to find a Newspaper what will do a big story about car dealer Rip Off's.

http://www.refdesk.com/paper.html#usa

Now we need to talk about Talk Radio stations. No Talk radio station will even expose car dealer scams. They get BIG advertising money from the car dealers that Rip you OFF. Maybe they are in bed together to take your money.

Go to the below URL and try to find a Talk radio station that will let you expose a car dealer RIP OFF.
http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?xyz=25?prev=4000&page=found&country=u&sort=Freq&count=40&band=AM&is_lic=Y

Go read the below Rip Off Reports and then try to find a form of Media that will let you expose a car dealer scam.

No car dealer would EVER want you to read what I will tell you for FREE. Most car dealers traing their sales people to Squeeze you till you POP or DROP.

Next I have a few words about the word "SALE" for all you sale seekers. Let me give you my opinion of the word "SALE

S.A.L.E.
Suckers Are Loose & Easy
In today's business world the word "Sale" does not means nothing anymore. Many only use the word to get your attention and make you THINK you are going to get a good deal. When I see the word "sale" I say whoop EE!

The only thing that's important to a car crook is your money. Once they get that, they couldn't care less if you're satisfied.

They are ABSOLUTELY not sorry about anything except ending up on this fraud site.

This is the kind of nonsense they all do on every deal they work.

You assumed the people were stupid. Wrong.

They intentionally mark up the price and switch the numbers around to steal more money from you.

You don't need to sign any more papers. Tell them to forge your name instead. Why not? Hell, they did every other illegal act there is. Why not forgery too?

Next time, buy used. Skip these d**n thieves.
