I am a Landscape Architect/Land Planner and maintain a one-man office. Since I am about 25 miles from Honolulu, I need a full range of self-supportive, design equipment in my office.

The refurbished HP 430 Designjet Plotter, that I bought and paid for in full, was delivered, lacking several items, on 4/22/08. The original shipment was supposedly lost. On 12/24/08 problems started, still well within the one-year warranty, and Plotters 4 U was notified and asked for help in repairing the unit. I was told to call their tech support man and I worked with him (over the phone) to do a diagnostic analysis and try several things - that did not work. The tech support man did not seem interested in my serious problem.

On 1/12/09 I consulted 2 plotter/printer repair companies in Honoulu and they both said that for approximately $795, plus parts and tax they would put it in good working condition. I told this to Robert Coffy and he said "Unbelieveable, I wish that I could get those prices over here (California)". He said that he would get another (replacement) unit to me.

Since that date, Robert Coffy has made one excuse after another for not sending me the replacement - lack of cash flow, I will ship next Thursday, would I accept another model?, it was "realocated", combining with shipment to Ewa but awaiting a part, etc.

As of this date 6/18/09, I still do not have a replacement and this has proved to be very inconvenient and costly for I have had to involve outside help that is quite some distance from my office.

I would never have bought the plotter from Plotters 4 U if I had any inkling that I would be dealing with a company that is not financially sound and with an owner who is not responsible.

We like Ted, he is a nice older man that is very pleasant to deal with.  To this day, I like talkling with him.  I agree with what he wrote, durring that time the economy took us for a ride, unlike alot of our competitors in the printer business who went out of business, we stayed the course and weathered the storm.  We have a small office of 5 people and ship from 4 warehouses through out the United States.  In Ted's case, he is in Hawaii and as much as I wanted to send a replacement, it was not economically feaseable to do so.  We also wanted to get a tech out, but none were around on the island. We will be issuing a credit to Ted to clear this up.  We have no bad feelings and I probaly would of done the same thing.

When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. ~Harriet Beecher Stowe
