Robert J. Abalos, Esq ripoff of $995 for seminar that was never held Kent Washington
On April 12, 2005 I mailed a $995 postal money order to Robert J. Abalos, Esq. for his 2-day Investing in Land Seminar that was to be held at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City on June 25th and 26th, 2005. I was told that tickets for events go out 3wks before the event. June came and I still did not get the tickets. I was never notified of a cancelation. I emailed him and he replyed that it would be resheduled for August.
He never held the NY seminar! I asked for a refund by email, mail and telephone and he never replyed. His phone number is an answering service. His mailing address is just a PO Box. He only answers emails from people that want to attend his seminars or purchase his books. I trusted him because he comes across as a consumer advocate in his newsletters and is an attorney. Also, he is the only guru teaching land investing and one of a few gurus that got a positive review from www.johntreed.com.
I have filed complaints with AG's in New York and Seattle, postmaster for mail fraud, and the FTC(they said that they don't handle individual personal complaints). I sent Bill Bronchick the same package that I sent to the AG's. I can send the same package to you to verify this complaint.
