Complaint Review: Roblox

Roblox BEWARE - multiple fradulent charges on my credit card, atm card, and checking account Internet

I am horrified that any company can get away with this. My son loved playing on the 'free' site Roblox. I made the mistake of charging $4.95 for different block costumes for a one time charge. When happened over the next few months was a nightmare. It started with fradulent charges on my bank statement - got a new ATM card - did this several times!! Then my charge card - fradulent charges on there as well - got a new card - again several times. Last but not least more fradulent charges - this time over $1,000.00 within a few days - found out they directly attached my checking account. I had to close my account and open a new one. Thank God my bank and credit card company have helped me through this or I would not have been able to make my house payment. This has been devastating and not to mention so sad as my son can no longer play on that 'free' site. Oh yes one other time we went to his brothers (older) apartment and his brothers atm card was fraudently charged by the same Roblox company!! Any other parents out there with this problem?????

I see a lot of people saying it is the child at fault, but we just ran into the exact same issue.  Our child just logged on and noticed he had a Builders Club membership.  I even went back and tracked all his messages with his friends in his feed, and right after he recently logged in he was posting how he had somehow been hacked and was excited to have gotten a free builders club.  In addition, we were charged over $100 for classic builders club 12 month membership, and that does not line up with the actual cost of this subscription (should be $58).

Lastly, yes we had made purchases on the website before, but everytime I did, I made sure it did not save our credit card information for this exact reason.  There should have been no record of our credit card info on the site, and the way the site is set up, there is no way to even view your credit card or billing information.  If you go to this area of the account information on the website there is literally no information whatsoever, not even a billing address or anything.  So please stop blaming everyone for not watching their children, as this is clearly shady as hell.  I would have no problem owning it if my child did this, but I guarantee you that is not what happened!

Roblox stole monies from our checking account

At this time of writing, we already have contacted the Consumer Protection Services in Washington, DC as well as other agencies regarding ROBLOX, because we have had our checking account raped of several hundred dollars in the last few months to this Roblox place, and neither I nor my wife play video games nor purchased anything from them, and NEVER heard of them before this previous February.

The first time I ever heard of them was when VISA Fraud Control called me around 7:00am one morning this past February asking "did you make (4) Visa/Debit charges to the same vendor last evening" and mentioned the Roblox name. I said "NO", and Visa told me they stopped nearly $800.00 between 4 simultaneous charges going through to this Roblox that evening finding it "very suspicious".  We went to our bank when they opened that day, changed our debit cards even and reported this to the bank.

Now, about 3weeks ago, again, Roblox showed up on our bank statement for charges this time taken out late on a Friday and then early on the following Monday again without our knowledge or desire, and our bank called us and said they were suspending our Visa/debit cards for a year and refused to say they had been hacked into, but felt it was us somehow; yet we adamently stated we do not know Roblox nor bought anything from them nor have any video games systems in our house nor authorized this Roblox to take any monies from our checking account!  The bank, getting upset with this as the amount caused our checking account to now bounce on many good checks written and the bank assessed fees and overdraft charges even and said we had to go to police and file police report as they could do nothing more. We argued with the bank now to take some responsibility here as we did not authorize anything to this Roblox, and now all the bank fees happening against us is criminal.

So we contacted FDIC now and other Federal agencies who said the bank is wrong telling us this and are now contacting our bank here who refused to reverse these charges to us to refund these charges and make things right in that checking account.

I and my wife have tried countless times contacting Roblox, and now they refuse to reply to our many recorded calls left at their number(s). Something is very wrong, and I am mad as heck, that someone has stolen monies from my personal checking account not only once, but tried several times and have actually gotten them and now we are at a loss because of this? Now we have monies sent to Roblox not refunded to us. The bank assessed hundreds of $ in fees they don't want to refund us either all because Roblox took most of what was in that account and the bank thinks they are right charging us these fees irregardless we had nothing to do with this Roblox to begin with.  The last message my wife received in some E-Mail sent from Roblox was "it is our policy not to refund any charges more than once to anyone". They refuse to acknowledge they have hundreds of dollars from us still and caused us financial problems with our bank even, and refuse to refund those stolen monies and the subsequent charges they have caused on us.

We are closing that bank account as soon as the Feds/banking commission gets justice for us, and opened another bank account at another institution in the meantime because we feel our original bank's systems must be hacked into by these Roblox people, but the point stands, ROBLOX owes us monies they illegally and wrongly received from our checking account, as we do not have anything to do with video games or such which I understand they are all about. I am a local small business owner and this has cost us fees already with our former bank and it is wrong and I want justice as well! I also have to make good to many customers of mine who now have "bounced checks" because this Roblox sucked monies out of our account unknowingly to where not enough was left to clear legitimate checks already written, and it is wrong to see this and wrong we are now paying fees and charges.

My debit card has been charged twice in the past month for $49.95 by roblox corporation which I never authorized. I called the company and they accused my 10-year old son of using my debit card for these charges. I have filed a complaint against roblox corporation with the Calfornia Attorney General's Office

My son has been a paid member of Roblox for several years.  I've paid for his membership to Builder's Club as well as buying Robux for him on many occaisions.  There is no way on earth that Roblox can get access to your checking account unless you directly gave them your account number.  I've bought Robux many times and I can not see how you could suddenly have fraudulent charges on your ATM card, your Charge card and out of your bank account all from purchasing Robux one time.  Something is definately wrong but I can't see how Roblox is responsible for it.

I am not an employee, or otherwise affilliated with Roblox other than being the mother of a boy who has builder's club on the site.  I am also not saying this for any reason other than truth.  I am actually having a problem with Roblox concerning their banning policy and have not heard from them even after having sent them literally dozens of emails.  so you can see, I'm not exactly their biggest fan at the moment.  There is no ulterior motive for me to question this report.

I have a ROBLOX account for my niece and there have never been any charges except for the $5.95 monthly charge I authorized at time of purchase.

Their customer service advised me they do not store full billing information and that purchases other than the subsequent billing on recurring memberships have to be made individually and the billing information has to be entered each time.  This makes sense to me.

How could the website have access to your other card numbers?  And the other person who is agreeing with you - how could they get your and your son's card numbers?
Do the math people.  Someone used your card to buy something for your kid, then used another card to buy something for your kid.  Don't you get it?  Your little angel isn't so angelic.

Why don't you take some responsibility for you children's actions instead of trying to blame someone else?

Validation

I can easily validate the OP's claim.  A similar incident occurred with my immediate family and I was called to resolve the situation as my parents were most distraught.

After my investigation I have determined the following:

- The only charges that were authorized were for a $5 recurring subscription
- Two charges of $299.95 were made upon my families checking account.
- No other subscriptions had been requested nor were they indicated by the website of having been placed into effect.
- That dealing with the company is a trial in patience due to the passive-aggressive nature of their emails (If someone emails you requesting an account be terminated, don't tell them to email you back in a few days saying the same thing) and a lack of live customer service (instead opting to respond to whatever voicemails they wish).

Now this may be a limited experience but it is one nonetheless.  For a group accredited by the BBB (as they say) this is unacceptable and a letter has already been dispatched recommending an immediate stripping of their accreditation.

The bottom-line is that if a company is going to hold to strict non-refundable standards and hard deadlines on reoccurring billing dates (which is within their right) they should be called on the carpet and held to equally strict standards on their misconduct.

In all honesty, I believe that the author of this report is lying and trying to damage the reputation of the ROBLOX company. I have been a customer of ROBLOX for almost two years now, and their customer service has been nothing but helpful to me. All of the staff of ROBLOX are open and friendly, and work diligently to keep the site safe and secure. If the author of the review has been a victim of fraud, it is certainly not the fault of ROBLOX, and more than likely has simply been written to attack the company.

I am disgusted that anyone would write so slanderously against ROBLOX. I advise anyone who has read this report to disregard it.

Did your son have your credit card number? States on their website You can cancel monthly recurring membership in Builder's Club at any time during the billing cycle. The membership lasts until the expiration date.

6 and 12 month memberships cannot be canceled. Memberships are not refundable.

To Cancel While Logged In

Go to the My ROBLOX page and then to Account Upgrades. If you are a renewing monthly member click the Cancel button and then click through all the following pages until fully canceled.

If You Can't Log In

To cancel the membership for one or more other accounts, please contact customer service at info@roblox.com or call 888-858-BLOX ext 2. You will be asked to provide identifying information such as billing name and partial credit card number.

If there is no Builder's Club subscription associated with an account, then there is nothing that you will need to cancel. Users can stop using their free accounts at anytime. The account will simply remain inactive until you're ready to play ROBLOX again.

I am a bit confused on how he got your credit card number and/of bank account information. They also (never heard of this place) but this is where I got the information. They also have a number you can call. Try calling them if you didn't give out your information. From what I know , they can't continue charging your debit card if you have had it changed. I just got a new one and the number is different.
