I sold this person a book through Facebook Marketplace. The final selling price was $80 and they sent me a check "accidentally" for $800. I deposited the check and wired them the excess funds without waiting for the check to clear. A few days later the check bounced and now I'm out $800!

WHY would ANYONE with an IQ above room temperature fall for this? Im in shock and disbelief that ANYONE ANYWHERE would fall for this.

JOE!!! Joe !!!!! What the hell were you thinking man? WHY would you wire ANYONE you dont know money like this? Frankly if they were dumb enough to send that much by mistake....it would quickly become a very costly mistake.........FOR THEM!!

I wanna say Im sorry you got ripped off.......but instead.......I gotta say you had it coming for allowing yourself to be duped by a very old and well known scam.

Betcha think twice before wiring or accepting money from a stranger again.

I spelled the last name wrong. It should be "Steller" not "Stettler."

Hmmm. A new twist on an old scam. Always be wary of checks in the mail. Unless it is from family, a well-known friend, your employer or the government ( a check you KNOW you are to receive monthly or yearly ), there is probably something wrong with it. Let ALL checks clear before using the funds.
