Rock Tops Granite - Nashville TN Rock Tops Granite in Nashville TN - A scam! Took money and is now out of business! Antioch Tennessee
After receiving a beautiful full color flyer in the mail on Rock Tops, a friend an I both put down deposits ( ours was $2000.00) on 12/6/08 - and having a very professional guy come out and measure our kitchen on 12/12/08 - and take the balance of our bill ( another $2000.00) - we were anticipating new granite counter tops to be installed directly after Christmas. On 12/16/08 the store manager called to say they had miss-measured during the original quote - and needed another $150.00 - which we gave them on a credit card.
We called on 12/17, 12/18 , 12/19 to arrange installation date - and could not get anyone to answer the phone. My friend and her husband recieved a message saying that 'a part for the million dollar drill was needed - and had to be ordered from overseas - so would not be in until after Christmas" She called the store repeatedly also - no luck. So - we drove over to the store - only to find an "Out of Business" sign - with the phone number to the corp. office.
I called the corp office number repeatedly over the next few days - leaving messages - nothing.
What a scam artist this company is! Both our friends and we are out thousands of dollars - with no recourse. After reading all the info on the web, it appears this company is millions of dollars in debt - so it is unlikely that any of the customers will see a dime of their money after thebankruptcy courts get done paying Rock Tops vendors.
The two owners - Charlie Theide and Bob Gasiorowski are crooks. They apparently knew the company was in trouble several months ago - yet continued to open new stores and take customers orders and money right up until the day before they shut their doors. How pathetic! And as recently as Nov 2008 - Charlie Theide was giving lectures on how not to be taken by home improvement scam artists! Guess he would know - since he is one.
And I feel terrible for the employees. Apparently many of them have not been paid in some time either.
We all got 'Scrooged" this Christmas!
