After receiving a mailer advertising special discount prices for Granite Countertops, we decided to visit their location in Lenexa, KS. They presented us with a price that included a free under-mounted stainless sink and a 4" back splash. As I began to walk out the door, the salesman lowered his price offering us a far better deal than Home Depot and said I had to let him know that same day to get the special pricing. We accepted and paid half on an American Express card and scheduled a time for a person to come out and measure. When the person came out to measure, he asked for the rest of the payment which we put on a Visa, and said he would call us the next day to schedule a time to have the countertops installed. After not hearing anything for a couple of days, we called the main line in KS and left a message. The next time I called, the answering machine was full so I sent complaints and emails to their corporate site. I then called every location listed on their site and their answering machines were full as well. I drove to their location several times and noticed they put a note on the door saying they were closed for the day. I looked through the windows and could see papers, bottles, etc still in their offices so I didn't suspect anything. After searching the internet today, I saw several complaints and postings stating that they have gone out of business (http://detroit.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=80&bbb=0332&firm=32022923) I called American Express and cancelled the charge. They were extremely helpful and assured me that it would be taken care of. I also called Visa, they have a serious of steps that I have to follow in order to investigate the charges and will have a final resolution in 6 to 8 weeks. I should have known better than to pay in full before the product was installed. This company is a bunch of crooks and I believe they knew exactly what they were doing by asking for they payment up front.
