Rockford Towing, Smitty's Park Automotive Towed vehicle from loading zone Rockford Illinois
I had a friend stop by and pick up some old furniture. We parked her van in the loading zone while my friends and i loded the vehicle. The sneaky little coward that drives the truck apparently was watching and as soon as the vehicle was unattended for approx 90 seconds he slammed the back hatch closed and towed it off with the flashers flashing which most people with a brain recognize as a universal signal for I won't be parked here long so please don't tow my car.
I call the tow company and the smart mouthed woman on the other end says" too bad." The vehicle wasn't even 6 blocks from my apt when I got her smart mouth on the phone. This is far from over.

As a former employee of this company I can tell you I quit several years ago due to the business practices of this company. All Towing companies in Winnebago County must register with the Illinois Commerce Commission.
You need to go to the ICC website and file a compliant against the company. They will take action as it sounds to me like they were sitting there waiting for someone to park in a place where they could get a car.
You should also go and check the Tow a Way sign as there is suppose to be several signs on the property and certian info needs to be on the signs. They use to be Smitty's Towing on West state street so if the sign doesn't state Rockford Towing with an address on Latham Road you might be able to get your money back.
Also look on the better business bureau site and file a complaint there. The one for the Rockford area has many complaints against them. I am sorry that you had to deal with them and hope my info helped a little as they do this all the time.
