Rocky Mountain Akitas Melissa Smith, Promoting Sale of Dogs that are not purebred Calhan, Colorado
The owners of the dogs listed on their website are advertising them as purebred Akitas when they are not. They are Husky Akita mix and they are scamming people into believing they are purebreds. They are charging customers $600 for unregistered purebreds when they are a mix. ALL of their dogs are mixed. They have sold several dogs to unknowing customers. DO NOT BUY THESE DOGS!

Please check out our website. www.rockymountainakitas.com. It is very obvious that we both have and sell a variety of dog breeds. We have purebred Akitas, papered and unpapered. We will be uploading Akira's pedigree to the site soon.
We have purebred, unpapered Akitas for sale. We have a Huskita for sale. We have Akita-Malamute puppies on the way. We will be doing some breeding with our Grey Wolf in the future as well. All of our customers know the true breeding of the dog/dogs that they bought.
Purebred papered dogs are hard for most people to afford. Purebred dogs tend to have more health problems than mixes. We have found that people love our dogs and have never had a dog come back or go to a shelter. We will be more than happy to answer any questions by phone or e-mail.
Just to prove a point, please check out the "Available" page. If you can't see for yourself that the pups shown on the left are purebred, please note the long-haired white Akita on the bottom of the page, "Scooter." It's obvious to anyone who knows Akitas that she is purebred.
And for that matter, anyone who knows Akitas would know that Bruiser, Twix, Star, and Akai are purebred as well. We just don't do the fancy show pictures most breeders do. Our dogs are companions, we photograph them as they are.
