This company possibly has a great product, possibly has a great support program, but my hunch was right in that direct marketing people can be very rude, vulgar, forceful, persistent, arrogant, and this company is no different.

I was contacted by a representative from a company I had not heard of called the Rocky Mountain Alliance. The representative shared with me that they are a fast-growing, direct marketing firm expanding more offices in the Front Range area - opening up 5 offices very soon. He contacted me because he had found my resume on the internet, and was looking for people with strong management experience. I asked what domain they are in, and he shared they direct-market health and wellness products.

At that point, I knew personally, that it was not for me, since that is not not a strong domain of mine, and not an area that would strengthen skillsets that I would want to... strengthen.

But, feeling slightly curious, I set up a time to meet with him. It was clear across Denver, and 40 miles and a traffic jam or so later, I showed up 10 mins late. I was greeted by a very pleasant woman who tried to get me to the right place.

I was distracted right away as she was talking by a "sales presentation"-like voice coming over the cubicles in this mid-rent office building (nice, but not top-notch). There is a difference between an introduction by an exec. to all interviewees and a sales presentation. Having run a sales/marketing company myself, that had a direct-marketing line, I knew this was an independent opportunity, and I wasn't interested. It could quite be a stellar opportunity, but I decided then and there to thank the receptionist/greeter, but that I had decided to leave.

At that point, I tried to politely exit, to which she persisted 3 or 4 times to turn me around. I kept trying to say politely, "thank you, but its not for me". To which after a strong persistence, she through her hands in the air, muttered "fine" and about-faced.
Now... for that part that proves my gut feel.

2 weeks later, I received a call from a Rep again. It could have been the same gentleman, who was pleasant on the first call (sticking to his script). His name was Gregory Kucera and called from 407-234-3892 ( which is in Florida - odd). He stated he left a message for me (I hadn't received a message, so I assume it was the first guy, and since I never saw him that day, he must have remembered it as leaving a message on his slew of calls that day).
GREG - He started to share the company with me again - growing, expanding, many roles, and asked me if I had heard of the organization.
ME - I am familiar with Rocky Mountain Alliance, and heard great things, but its not an industry that I am interested in and thank you for his call.
GREG - "Where I had heard of it?"
ME - I said through research, as well as what he shared prior.
GREG - "Where did you find this research?" (Defensively preparing for if I heard something bad)
ME - "Greg its nothing bad or anyone bad-mouthing...
GREG - "Who would bad-mouth a $100 million company?"
ME - "Yes... I agree, but..."
GREG - "Matt, you don't know... " Not sure what he fully said, but the tone was getting awfully defensive and pushy
ME - "Greg, please, you are getting pushy"
GREG - "well, you must be an a#$hole"... click.

It turns out, through idle conversation with my girlfriend, she was contacted also a week or so prior, but cancelled the day of after she talked with a long-time friend who did go and gave some poor feedback.

MORAL: This organization is very aggressive and rude, and most likely feel they can be while they have the pick of the litter during this low employment times.

Here is their pitch:
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%22rocky+mountain+alliance%22&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=20000204115201.29827.00001422%40ng-ck1.aol.com&rnum=10

Basically:
- They are a network marketing company
- Owned by a National Marketing Company with 40 offices
- Privately held
- Based off wave 4 marketing
- Basically, they know they are aggressive, and aggressive is fine, but vulgarity is unnecessary.

Matt I tried calling that 407 phone number above. Gee what a surprise. Its a Sprint PCS cell phone that is now disconnected. How many people call applicants on their personal cell phone and give it out? Only these idiots, and its disconnected because the poor b*****d probably can't pay his bills since he makes no money, or he changed his number due to all the pissed off people that have it.

Just wanted to categorize under Trek Alliance after learning more about them - also, since they don't tell you their association with Trek until after meeting with them (shady).
