Over the last 17,000 miles a brand new Audi A3 has been in the service shop 15 times for all types of things that should not go wrong in a luxury car the first few years of ownership.

Console broken, side window mechanisms broken, computerized key broken, minimum oil light comes on every 3,000 miles necessitating over 10 trips to the dealership for diagnostics. The last trip resulted in the car in service shop for 3 weeks replacing the entire engine at 17,000 miles and less than 24 hours after I got the car back, the same issue is happening necessitating another trip back.

They promise an Audi loaner car, but I had a Subaru for 3 weeks. The amount of time I have spent going back and forth to the shop, taking time from work, sitting in the waiting room, getting loaner cars, on the phone with Audi and the problem still is not fixed after a year and countless trips.

I find Audi Austin to be dishonest, incompetent, careless and not very smart. I warn anyone considering an Audi purchase to look elsewhere. I have not had any problems like this with Infiniti or Lexus.

I have worked on Audi for the past 41/2 years. The first thing is I have not worked at this dealer and I am not speaking for the company. But please remember sales men do have problems promising things they should not. Most dealers you get a loaner if you bought from them. Only some Audi dealers get money to have Audi loaners even then it is usually only 5-6 cars. The man who soled you the car should not have presented that as such.

The Oil consumption is a surprise that they did something before 15K that seems to be the brake in period with this motor. Some do consume oil after this. Some of the 06 year cars had rings that did not seat right and you would get a compression of 180psi,180psi,160psi,180psi After the ring replacement it is 180,180,180,180 The oil consumption has never exceeded the spec for consumption which is 1/2 qt. every 600 miles. AoA and Audi in Europe are working on this even thou it is NOT out of specs. Technicians do agree that you use more oil than it should but it is not out of specs. Some techs have speculated that it is bad valve seals in the head some like me think it is a design issue in the PCV system of the car some have heavy amounts of oil in the turbo line. How ever, some cars do not have this.

Please under stand Audi is working on this Issue.

Update: For this last trip in for the same problem, I am given a Subaru, not an Audi loaner as promised when I bought the car. They keep the car for a week, necessitating two more trips to the dealership and give it back saying they don't really know what caused it, possibly engine break in or not enough oil put in the engine in the first place!

I ask if the warranty can be extended to cover the new engine and am told that is "probably too hard for Audi to track" and sent on a wild goose chase to Audi America which will require more of my time.

To add even more to the mix, they returned my car with the leather filthy and sandy. When I complained, they sprayed the leather with a plastic cleaner which takes all the natural oils out of the leather.

I returned their loaner car full of gas on my nickel, but my car, which they have driven hundreds of miles, is empty. They rectify this, but it requires another trip back to the dealership.

Each time I get my car back, a satisfaction survey comes in the mail with a message from one of the owners and the customer satisfaction contact, asking me to let them know how they did. Absolutely no response from either of these guys about this comedy of errors and mishandling, even tho I have sent multiple emails informing them. I can only assume it is because they either just don't care or they are only interested in the positive feedback and ignore the negative.
