I was a victim of Ron Eckstine. At the age of 18 years old, naively going into the music business, Ron Eckstine came across my demo and called me. He told me to meet him and not to bring any parents with me or boyfriends. I found that weird but I did what was asked because I was so hungry to get in to the music business.

The first time we met was fine, he let me show him some of my songs and then he gave me a disk of songs to take home to learn. So I did that and then came back and he had me try on numerous slutty outfits that were basically stripper outfits. We did a photoshoot and then he told me he wants to sign me and he gave me a contract to read over. He always conviced me that he was the real thing and if I didn't go with him I would be missing out on a lifetime opportunity and chances like this only come once. He wanted me to perform at some club in LA, and I think after looking it up it was a pretty sleezy club, he said that JLO performs there. I couldn't find any information about that. I wasn't asked to sleep with him like some of the other girls, I remember one of them lived with him, but I had gotten out of the situation before it went that far. It just didn't feel right. He also wouldn't let me use any of my written songs, I now know music managers would rather you write your own material, cause it will be easier to shop you around to record labels.

He uses his last name to say he is Billy Eckstine's son... which is untrue. He's a perverted man who uses the "music manager" title to get him power to get girls to sleep with him. I am wondering if he has camera's installed in his bathroom where all of us change into those stripper outfits. Then he may sell them to websites as porn. He won't work with anyone under 18 and he doesn't allow, friends or family to be involved. He's a scam and needs to be put behind bars for violating and misleading women.

Know the "famous" Jennifer Day? Yeah, I went to college with her. We were pretty good friends actually. She was really talented. Great dancer. Great singer. Great actress. I couldn't go to the club with her without every guy in the joint hitting on her! It was crazy! I always thought she'd make something of herself. She moved to CA after college and somehow got hook-up with this sleeze ball Ron Eckstine. I remember trying to call her, on her personal cell, and he answered her phone! He questioned me about who I was and how I knew Jenny! I couldn't believe it! He screens all her calls, and her personal emails. In fact, I don't think she even has a "personal cell" or "personal email" anymore. I know she was living with this man for a while there. He seemed very possessive. It was kinda scary. I tried talking to her about it, but she wouldn't hear it. Now she has breast implants! She does nude shows! She's basically in porn. I've never even met this Ron Eckstine and I hope I never do! He sounds like the worst womanizer I know! He completely gets into these girls heads. Tells them he'll make them famous. Makes all these promises. Next thing ya know, these girls are singing and dancing on live TV in hardly any clothes and taking phone calls from nasty men masturbating into the phone! Next step is doing nude shots and nude shows. He's a disgusting man. I wish he'd get shut down and Jenny would get with a REAL talent producer! I just hope it's not too late for her to redeem herself. She's worth so much more than this! She could do TONS better!

To anyone reading this - Stay away from Ron Eckstine. You may think he's making these girls, like Jenny, famous. But he's not! He's slowly ruining their lives and futures!

Ron Eckstine IS the son of Billy Eckstine

While I don't know anything else about his management style or professionalism, I do know that Ron Eckstine is a member of the Eckstine family and is not lying about that relationship.

I also know that it is not unusual for personal managers to attempt to tell their artists/potential artists what to record/not to record, whether or not the potential artist thinks he/she can write songs.

The Eckstine website is very clear about what type of artist the company wants to represent. --It is also clear about what types of songs those artists will sing and there are photos of women represented by the management company. If a singer doesn't want to dress like the women in the photos, sing the types of songs listed at the site, be featured at the venues mentioned at the site, or meet any of the other criteria mentioned...maybe the singer should not submit a demo or arrange a meeting.

The main problem seems to be that many young women want to "make it big" with little preparation so they start looking for managers to help them attain that goal. (The prior post had many misspelled words). -- This is a TOUGH business and those who want to be part of it would do well to think about attending one of the many commercial music courses taught at community colleges to get a good knowledge of the music business and work on basic skills. -- That two year investment is worth the time --a four year degree is even better and do as many "open mikes" as possible.

Once prepared, thought can be given to management. And, if a manager works out of his home (not unusual these days), have the first meeting in a public place...like a Starbuck's.
