This is not necessarily a rip-off report as much as it is raising a question. My niece hired Mr. Clement to represent her in court for a child custody case recently and although the judge's decision may not have been affected, my understanding is that Mr. Clement was not very vocal in bringing out things that would have have at least shed more negative light on the opponent. Although I was not able to attend the hearing, my understanding is that when challenged about his representation, Mr. Clement's response was that and I paraphrase, "the information was all in the documents".

I will not say either way whether my niece was ripped off or not, but I will say that I hear all the time, that attorneys are paid lots of money, and then seem very non-chalant in the courtroom. If, I hire you, I want to be made to feel like you are trying to rescue me, as though I am hanging from a cliff by a frayed wire. In a life or death situation, there is emotion, there is urgency, there is an extreme effort to do what ever you can to make a difference for the person who is hanging by a thread.

According to what I am being told, Mr. Clement showed no signs of being aggressive for his client. It was just another day in the court room. When I go to a restaurant and I PAY for service, if I do not like the service, I can send my order back and ask to have it prepared to my liking. It seems that there is no recourse for clients of attorneys whose service is not up to par for the client. If you are not satisfied with the emotion an attorney puts into a case, then you should have some recourse to ask for money back.

I know it is all subjective, but this is my feeling on the matter. Mr. Clement may be a good attorney but for my niece, it appears that he showed no real effort to make a difference for her. Whether or not he felt anything would have made a difference, I believe he could have at least made a show, and brought out vocally some of the negative things about the opponent. After all isn't that what an attorney is supposed to do- PRESENT a case!!

My name is Dairen Richardson and I am the father of the Niece referred to in my brother in-laws comments.  I retained Mr. Clement when my daughter was a minor and Mr. Clement continues to repersent her (and her husband) now that she is an adult.

I would like to first state that David's comments only repersents the frustrations that our family has had in dealing with this situation and dealing with family court, which dosent make a whole lot of sense (my opinion).  When I first met with Mr. Clement my family was in desperate need of an attorney.  Because our case had already been in the court system we were unable to find someone that would take us on as clients.

When we met with Mr. Clement he agreed to take our case and cut his normal fee so we would be able to retain him.  From the get go he was a blessing to my family.  He stood up for us in the mediation phase of our case.  He gave us sound advice and was not afraid to say "Hell NO!" to the other side.  In a time when we were a mess and confused about this whole situation Mr. Clement put stability back in our lives and gave us hope that things were going to be better.

Mr. Clement is an attorney that I would recomend to anyone dealing with family court issues.  Davids comments are inaccurate and unfair to Mr. Clement.  When I received word of this post I immediately called Mr. Clement and apologized to him for David's post.

I am always big enough to offer an apology when I am wrong. I received a call this evening from another family member and was assured that Mr. Clement did do all in his power to get a good outcome for my niece. So, to you Mr. Clement, I apologize. I do not mean to hurt your reputation. I was emotional and should have allowed time to get the full story before I posted. I am assured that you are a fine attorney. Unfortunately, my understanding is that Ripoff will not remove comments (which is a policy which should be changed). It was my error to have posted before I gained a full understanding of the circumstances. I apologize.
