Complaint Review: Ronco Popiel

Ronco, Popiel Ronco, Popiel Ripoff False advertising Deceptive sales practices Rude Customer Service Reps Nationwide

I did some Christmas shopping with the Ronco company (total over $400.00)and was assured that the Rotisserie would not have a shipping charge. Not only did they charge an additional $32.90 for shipping the Rotisserie alone but were rude and insulting when I called for an adjustment. Their attitude was simply "We Don't Care", you can send it back at your expense and we will refund the price minus shipping. Leaving me out of $65 instead of $32.90. No wonder he says to "keep the knives", when he says "I know you won't return it that's why I make the offer" It's because you'd pay shipping both ways! Anyone doing business with this company should expect poor quality customer service as the company policy.

RONCO ''RIP OFF'' ACTION

#6Consumer Suggestion

Fri, December 31, 2004

I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of California, California Dept. of Justice, P.O.Box 944255, Sacramento, Ca. 94244
Attention: Public Inquiry Unit.

Send your letter of complaint to our (no nonsense)
A.G. because he will take action. I recommend that you also include a copy of any invoice documenting what you were charged.

Aside from the fact that Ron Popeil runs a shoddy operation; doesn't have a clue what customer service is about; dupes the public with his lying by implying; implies that his company is endorsed by the Better Business Bureau (not!); and just simply sells "junk", in itself is not a crime. However, combined with the fact that he is, #1 - charging (me) 9.5% sales tax (which is an overcharge in any state I believe); and #2 - the fact that he is advertising on his webpage that his company is endorsed by the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU (not!)is false advertising.

I encourage ANYBODY AND EVERYONE, that feels "duped" by this RONCO outfit, send you letters to our Attorney General and he'll take action against this "Mr. Hair in a Can" man !

RONCO RIP OFF

#6Consumer Comment

Thu, December 30, 2004

Thanks everyone for the tip on this RONCO COMPANY, e.g. Mr. Hair in a can. His first invention was a can of paint that you sprayed on your head if you had a bald spot. Don't see it around anymore do you??

Because of all of the great information that I received on this site, I am cancelling the order I placed a week ago for this rotisserie. They emailed me a confirmation and on the invoice they are charging 9.5% tax. Where in the US do they collect 9.5% tax??? The US Attorney General should investigate this company...or the IRS...and find out where this tax money is going.

I called the company to get an explanation on the tax and no answer. I emailed them, no answer. I think I'll keep my money and I'm calling my credit card company tomorrow to tell them not to accept any charge from them....or cancel any charge if they've already done so.

I love this website!!!!!
