So my girlfriend got into a fender bender (maybe a little more since the airbags deployed) near her place of work.  Not a huge deal, but she was upset and a major expense for her.

After the Police did their thing, the wrecker company PC PAINT & BODY (PRESTIGE COLL 8929 BELLFLOWER HOUSTON 77063 (713) 490-7777 (TDLR#005865964C) (SARAH INVESTMENTS P/C with License Plate #T7853F (As per HPD Record of Vehicle Disposition/Wrecker Slip) had their driver "AL GARRETT" tell her that towing her car would be free and that it would only be $20 a day to store her car there.  He insisted a number of times (5) that it would be free an only $20 a day until she wanted to pick it up.

Of course she was a little shaken and felt that what Mr. Garrett had told her was true.

However....2 HOURS LATER....when we went to pick the car up from 9421 RONDA LANE AUTO STORAGE...to where we found out that these crooks wanted $218.00 PLUS TAX!!!  We asked for an itemized receipt, to which the man behind the elevated barred window said, "If you pay me"!  After telling Mr. *&%$FACE that he legally has to show us a receipt before payment....he handed it over and this is what it said:

TOWING CHARGES: $155.00
STORAGE FEE: $20
IMPOUND FEE: $20
CITY FEE: $20
TAX: $3.30

TOTAL: $218.30

The guy was a horrible liar by saying that he only watches the window a few hours a day when others are on break.  But he seems pretty keen on all the details it took to get paid.  He was just saying anything he could to try and stop me from climbing in the window and spitting in his face.

So it looks to be that the ploy is that the tow-truck driver tells the person the tow will be free and that he knows the perfect place that only charges $20 a day.  So he tows your car there....where you see NO SIGNAGE ABOUT THE CHARGES UNTIL AFTER THE CAR IS IN THIER FENCES!!!  Then, they gouge you for $218 + TAX which they grease the tow-truck driver a cut for his trouble.  So the tow isn't really free is it?

This is bullSH!T!  Letting this bottom feeders run this operation is straight extortion.  Wrecker Drivers are pure scum (except AAA...those boys are honest and helping) and just want to rip you off.  If I ever get in a wreck....I will defend my truck with my pistol until Triple A shows up.
