Room Store has filed for bankruptcy and still has my $2,000 "refund" Catonsville, Maryland
In May I purchased a living room set from Room Store - she verbally told me that she HAD to put on the contract that the order would be in from 4-8 weeks, but she ASSURED me that it would be in much much sooner.
4 weeks came and went - I did receive a call saying that it would be another couple weeks.
7 weeks came and went and she said that the order would now be in early July (well after the 8 weeks on the contract). I sat for a couple days and thought about it, and then went and cancelled my CASH order.
I got a receipt for the refund request, looked me in my EYE and verbally told me that it would be 7-10 business days. Today is day 13.
The store had signs on it this weekend saying "Store Closing" "Going out of business"
I called the store number - no answer
I called the main 800 number and they gave - drum roll - the bankruptcy announcement. To file a claim - I need to fill in the paperwork, NO idea how long it is going to take to get my money back or IF I will get it back.

" NO idea how long it is going to take to get my money back or IF I will get it back. "
It can't hurt to fill out the claim forms, but if you do get anything back, it'll be pennies on the dollar.
Sadly, when a company goes bankrupt while holding your money, it's usually a lost cause unless you paid using a credit card. If that was the case, you could file a dispute with the card company (usually allowed for 90 days after the charge shows up on your bill) and get the charge reversed. If you paid and didn't use a credit card, you're probably out of luck.
