I bought a mattress and some other furniture items at Rooms to Go and was offered a "free" 25" TV with my purchase.  A week later (prior to scheduled delivery of the mattress and other items), the same mattress was offered with a "free" 32" TV.  As we had paid a $200 upcharge to Best Buy for fulfillment of an upgraded TV at 32" instead of our original offer, we contacted RTG to ask for their assistance in resolving.

Our first response from the sales person was that there was nothing they could do.  Subsequent responses from the store manager and assistant manager while initially appearing promising proved to meet with the same response.  Even after contacting their corporate office, we were told there was nothing they could or would  do.  Weeks later we accepted delivery of the items and noted our issue in the signature frame (we did not sign accepting delivery).  We were even contacted by phone to ask if the delivery was satisfactory and again told them no, that it was not and that we were still awaiting contact from their regional manager who apparently does not return calls.

We escalated our claim to the Better Business Bureau and after repeated attempts, were offered a $50 credit for another purchase at RTG (not the $200 Best Buy credit that we were requesting).

All I can say after completing this process and not accepting this offer, is that if you have an issue with Rooms to Go, go back immediately and get your money back as that is apparently the only recourse that they understand.  They now have our money and feel no responsibility whatever to make the situation right.  My advice is to buy your furniture and mattresses from someone you know is reputable and who will resolve any issue you may have courteously and promptly.

Why should they honor your 32 inch request?

You completed the sale but then expected to get an upgraded television because you saw an updated ad offering the better television? You do realize that once you pay for something, that is it? When I completed my sale, I don't recall seeing anything saying my selections would inherit any upgrades based on the latest ad blitz. I think you are asking and expecting too much! It would be unfair to expect them to give you a free 32" television without charging you the difference since the deal, at the time, was for a 25" television. I am all for helping the underdogs but in this case, you are very wrong. Sorry.
