We bought a $2500 bedroom set and purchased the extended warranty.

The furniture was delivered and we noticed that one of the pieces was damaged. The delivery guys told us to contact the company before the one year warranty expired and they would take care of it.

We contacted Roomstore and they sent out a repair guy. He looked at the damaged piece and said that they would replace the damaged part.

We were later contacted by Roomstore and they said that they would not fix or replace the damaged furniture. They said that although we were within the warranty time frame the damage did not qualify to be covered by the warranty. Whatever that means!

They tried to feed us alot of carpentry/craftsman jargon. They refused to do anything to rectify the situation. The part that angers us most is that their delivery guys caused the damage and their repair guy said that it would be fixed or replaced.

I have a suggestion for your next furniture purchase...

#2Consumer Suggestion

My husband works for a warranty company that does furniture repair. Since he has been doing this job, we have learned what and what not to do regarding buying furniture. The main thing is that if you ever order and have furniture delivered to your home, inspect every inch of it. If there are damaged areas, refuse delivery. Accepting furniture that was damaged by the deliverymen is almost like accepting that there was no damage at all. Most likely it will be the consumer that is accused of the damage. Furthermore, the deliverymen telling you that the damage would be covered by the warranty is a total lie. If the warranty company determines that something was damaged out of negligence, it won't be covered. Warranties only cover manufacturer's defects. I hope I helped, maybe for the next time you buy furniture. I am sorry for your situation
