Rosehill Wine Cellars costly return policy Toronto Ontario Canada
Ordered a seven bottle Chambrer wine cellar and cooler from Rosehill wine cellar on line for $159.00 and $65.00 shipping (which was $30.00 more than another online site charged to ship exact same item). When I received the item it was defective. The glass was streaked milky with a poor gasket seal around the glass. The door gasket was bent and also did not form a good seal. The bottom of the unit was scratched. The cover on the digital read out was coming off.
Despite these problems ( I had paid $65.00 shipping) I tried the unit. There was no manual included but I figured out the settings from directions on the box. On the lowest settings and also on a manual setting of 54 degrees the unit would not get any colder than 59 degrees ( my house is 80 degrees). This is too warm for wine.
I called the company two days after receipt and was treated rudely and told someone would contact me for a return. No one did.
I called back after four more days and was asked if I had contacted the manufacturer. I explained I was told someone would contact me for a return. I was offered an exchange but refused related to the numerous problems with the unit that spoke to the issue of quality. Peter informed me I could return the unit at my expense since this was a "discretionary return". The item didn't work.
I explained I had already paid $65.00 for shipping a defective item and now would be paying another $35.00 to ship it back. I was told if I wanted to return it I had to pay.
So in the end I will have paid $100.00 in shipping for a $159.00 product that was defective and didn't work. The company was rude and did not follow through requiring me to call them back repeatedly to return said item.
