This is a very serious warning For anyone considering an engine from Rotax Rick.I was seriously hurt for the SECOND TIME by a rebuilt engine from Rotax Rick. This failure happened during that critical point during takeoff. This was on my second rebuilt engine from Rotax Rick---which was a replacement for his first failed engine rebuild. The original engine he built for me blew a head gasket mid flight and overheated after only TWO hours, also causing injury. After that, Rick told me that if I'd send him my engine back he'd totally rebuild the engine a 2nd time...but he only changed the head gasket. And the guy actually had the nerve to say that my head gasket was fine but he changed it anyway. If my headgasket hadn't blown....how did my coolant become full of fuel/oil to the point of being flammable? Rick does warranty his engines and he does stand by his warranty...but he cuts corners and I have the hospital bills to prove it. And by the way, I was burning full synthetic Amsoil interceptor, never used gas older than five days, all fuel filtered through mr funnel, never revved higher than 6300, always did a full 6 minute warm up, never let engine cool during descent...etc. I babied this engine because I was told by experts that my engine would never be as reliable as new since the extreme overheating form the failed head gasket. I have ads up seeking other parties who've been victimized by Ronald Davis AKA Rotax Rick's fraudulent rebuild services.  The second rebuild he did for me was only a fraction of what was promised...do yourself a favor and stick with the proven folks at Lockwood aviation...or buy yourself a cheap burial plot if you fly over anything other than wide open, unplowed fields. My 20k amfib plane is now halved in value thanks to rick the p***k.

This Rotax Rick guy seems to have the same excuse for everyone, he claims he sent out a perfect engine and the other guy over heated it. Same ole storyline for everything that happens with this guy's rebuilds. It's just a matter of time before someone gets killed Flying behind one of his engine's.

There's a reason Rotax the company doesn't stand behind anything he does. He's the black sheep of Rotax a step child that woant go away and keeps giving his parents black eyes. He put caged bearings in my engine!!! Caged bearings ! Not the recommended needle bearings that Rotax uses and recommends... Cheap $3 caged bearings in an aircraft engine? Are you kidding!!!

Beware of this black sheep and is denial of any criticism that comes his way. If you look at all his responses you will see a pattern. There's a reason aircraft engines cost to have fixed and worked on . Do yourself a favor send it to a certified aircraft repair shop ,not to some drunk that does it in his garage....

All the stuff Rick...AKA Ronald Davis has stated in his rebuttle is absolutely fals. I have emails from multiple customers that Rotax Rick has ripped off. If anyone is in doubt of this Guy's claims, email me and I can provide him. I would waatch out for putting any faith in Rick's warranties....he's about to be sued out of existence.

This person recieved a perfect engine . HE OVERHEATED IT BY NOT FILLING IT WITH COOLANT THE PROPER WAY !!!!!

Then stated it was only making 1/2 the H.P.it had before.   EVEN though he was getting the exact same rpm he had before. Anyone that knows engines knows that is impossible. Same rpm means the same hp.  After 2 1/2 hours he stated the engine failed. When we recieved it it was in perfect condition. IT DID NOT FAIL !!!  He said that so I would pay for the shipping & I did both ways EVEN though he overheated it. We installed new hed O rings to be on the safe side since he did overheat it. I returned the engine & he still complained it did not have the power. He's on floats so he needs more power due to this.He continued to lean the engine out trying to get more power and at 52 hours he burnt a piston due to the lean mixture. A 2 cycle engine has to have the correct mixture and once people adjust the mixture It is not the engine builders fault when it fails. Also we completely rebuild the crankshaft & do not use the stock rods because they do not give the lower rod bearing enought  oil because they have only 1 oil slot. All crankshaftes I do have to oil slots & brand new OEM bearings. So since I replace every removable part of a crankshaft what benifit would I get by changing his crankshaft for another ??  I recieved his engine in a faild condition, rebuilt it for $2145  After he had the burnt piston failure he sent me a letter stating because of the 2 hard landings & being he tried out for professional sports & knows injuries that he's sure to have  problems down the road & he wants $6500 from me. ISN'T THAT EXTORTION !!!!!!!!

You recieve a perfect engine from Rotax Rick. You do not install it properly and over heat it. Your desision was to fly it rather than return it for proper inspection. Clamed the engine made not the correct amount power that you felt it should have & continued to fly it. Stated it failed with no proff of this evenoccuring.????  Return the enginb for inspection & not a complete Overhaul. You then get the engine back in perfect condiotion after all possible parts that may of been damaged replaced. Continued to try to get more power because of a overloaded aircraft with water floats, Leaned the perfect engine to get the extra powered rather replace the engine with one of the proper power and caused it to fail, Then blaming it all on the engine builder. Then tried to scam him for $6500 in damages to a engine he repaired that he recieved in a blowen up failed condition and charged you ONLY $2145   That is called extorsion and youy sir are a crook .
