My move was scheduled for 12:00 noon, estimated 5-7 hours, going from home to local storage. I packed all items, disassmbled furniture, ready to go.

Movers were 4 hours late starting job, storage facility closed at 6:30 p.m. so my items had to be stored in moving truck overnight. They charged me $100 to store my items when it was their fault they were 4 hours late! Had the movers arrived at noon they could have made it before storage closing. AND, they charged me for drive time AGAIN the next day!

I confirmed in an email 2 days prior to moving that I did not need for them to provide ANY moving/packing supplies other than what they advertise as "FREE use of moving pads/blankets". I had already purchased shrink wrap for my sofa for them to use. When they were loading, I was going room to room removing nails, packing last minute items to take with me. I saw where they wrapped my sofa with brown paper pads (15) and they used their shrink wrap. They also used paper pads on my washer/dryer (4) which is 10 years old bearing nominal scratches. The paper pads are $10.00 each!

I immediately phoned the "Supervisor" about the supply issue and how I had emailed him previously stating I had my own supplies. He would not budge, even knowing they were 4 hours late, resulting in my items being stored in a crappy truck overnight and not going into storage as planned. I told him to start unlaoding my items as I was not comfortable with them having possession of my valuables. The "Supervisor" said he was calling the "Foreman" onsite and telling him to lock the truck and leave. I called the police. I had no choice but to pay them (Police cannot handle Civil issues)that evening for all charges to that point and still had to deal with unloading the next day.

The following day, again they were late, but only by 30 minutes. They demanded payment before unloading into storage. The guys were extremely sarcastic, to the point of even laughing. Again, I had no choice but to pay them to receive my belongings.

What should have been a $600 move from my home to storage (2 miles away), everything packed, disassembled and ready to load from an on street garage turned in to $1165. The idiots even loaded my daughter's suitcase (they were advised not to touch) with her medicines that she MUST take due to a terminal lung condition.

The actual time the move took was 5.75 hours, but with all the hassle, stopping to argue, telephone police the time was 9.25 hours + their supplies which I said not to use.

The truck was also purchased from a moving company, now closed, out of Pheonix which their logo had not been removed or painted over.

I am contacting CPUC, BBB, AMSA and filing a small claim today.

Consumer be advised - DO NOT USE ROUTE 66 MOVING out of San Diego.
