Royal Caribbean Cruise Line ripoff, uncaring, rude, bad business, terrible Miami Florida
Sept 2004 we were supposed to depart from Port Canaveral on a 4 night bahama cruise on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. It was our honeymoon. Hurricane Jeanne closed down the airports in Florida as we were leaving. There was absolutely NO way into Florida before the cruise departed. We purchased the insurance. Royal Caribbean will NOT refund us our money. They will ONLY give us a cruise credit for 1 year. No extensions. They do not care, it is company policy (they say). We cannot go within the year due to work schedules, financial reasons etc. They do not want to hear it and will not help us. Everyone else refunded our money with NO hassle. Royal Caribbean says, we should have made a way to get to Florida, the ship sailed.

Insurance does not apply to self booked flights.

The author did state they purchased insurance. But the insurance only applies to flight problems if the flights were booked through the cruise line. If the author booked a "cruise only" then booked their own flights, Royal Caribbean is not resposible for them not getting there.
Because of this, Royal Caribbean owes the author nothing for not making it. A one year credit is very generous.

If you re read the post, they did buy the insurance.
This is totally inexcusable. I'd find an attorney.

The insurance is there for exactly that reason. If you didn't buy it you are SOL.

My parents were supposed to take a cruise on Monarch of the Seas but had to cancel after my dad was hospitalized with a heart problem. Called and talked to Beverly Brown in the executive office who basically told me too bad. They get requests for refunds every day and if they gave everyone their money back, they would be out of business. My parents are on a fixed income and they saved for a long time to take this cruise. I intend to contact some consumer advocates and some travel magazines to see if they can help me out. Is a refund really too much to ask when they sell so many?
