Complaint Review: RPM - Jeffrey Mingle

We purchased a 1969 Pontiac Firebird from an individual knowing that we were buying for restoration. The next day after it was delivered, we contacted Jeffrey Mingle, Owner of RPM, to tow it to his shop to have the restoration started. He sent a tow truck to pick it up.

One of the main issues is, this car was drivable to a point. The engine worked well, the tranmission had issues and the rear end was in good shape. After two weeks of him having the car and us giving him 3000.00 to start, nothing had been done. My husband went to look at the car on Saturday, March 29th, 2003 with his stepdad, who is a mechanic. My husband noticed that the cars rear end was damaged to the point that now it was not driveable. The rear tire was smashed into the wheel well.

On Monday we decided to pull our car from him, due to damages and not getting any results. He denied charges of damaging the car, eventhough he admitted taking the car for a drive (which now the car is NOT driveable) we asked for our money back and he is refusing to return the 3000.00. We called a tow truck and it took us about an hour just to try and get our car from his shop. Even the tow truck driver noticed the damage to the point that he could not secure the car on the flat bed like you normally would.

It has been a week now and he said he still does not have our money and that we are not a priority to him. That he has better things to do with his time. Also, in speaking with other business in the Rowlett area, we came to find out that he has a very poor reputation, unprofessional, taking peoples money and not performing the work on vehicles as stated. We are taking him to small claims court out of Garland Texas
