I brought my car in for an oil change. My a/c worked fine on the way there. When I picked up my car - no a/c. I brought it back and they denied going anywhere near the A/c Unit.

In an attempt to rechard the a/c - the two caps were removed and lost and the unit was hooked up to discharge the unit first. During this 30 minutes it was hooked up there were 3 guys, one was an owner, bumbling around the machine. They wanted me to leave my car and 'come back tomorrow'. I took my car and had someone else recharge it. The a/c still didn't work.

I got the schematics for the unit and after cleaning off my engine - because there was a loose bolt from the oil change....I saw a wire was missing. I brought it back and again the owner, without looking said it was impossible that they did it during an oil change.

Finally - brought it to MacKenzie Electronics. After the initial fee of going over the wiring for the car - the gentleman charged me $1.00 for replacing the wire that was ripped out.

Since I shared my adventure with others - the first thing some said was... oh yeah, they did something like that to me.... etc. so, I had to write.

I would like to adress Report: #272449, a complaint on the Rt. 3A shell station. I have been a loyal customer of this business for many, many years and have never once had a problem. Both owners and employees are respectful and helpful and I would highly recommend this business. As for your story, I just do not comprehend how one goes in to a gas station for an oil change and comes out with no air conditioner.

An oil change is a very routine operation, and quite a simple one at that. Is it not possible for the air conditioner to have been broken long before you ever got the oil change or for you to have broken something when you were tinkering around the engine of your car? Nowhere does it say in your report that you, yourself, are a mechanic so how can you be sure it was not your own fault the car ceased to work or how can you know that the problem was related to the oil change. I again know many loyal customers of this station, myself being one of them, and have never heard of them having a problem.

This story simply has no merit to it. You are not a mechanic yourself and did not see any person fool around with the air conditioner in your car. It is even possible that you may be a competitor of this station and are out to discredit them. Take a cue from a law professor, until you have solid evidence, it is not right to accuse.
