Complaint Review: Rush Card

On June 1, 2007 while in Benin, West Africa, tried to withdraw $300 from my account with Rush Card.  Got the receipt which showed Bank of Africa dispensed the money, but no money was forthcoming.  Only a receipt.

Immediately went into to Bank Of Africa to report the problem and they let me know the ATM had been malfunctioning.  They really wanted to help me get my money back, however, I would have to file first a dispute with my own Bank, Rush Card and they would work with them for the return of my money now totalling $310.89 wih fees.

The very next day I reported the issue to Rush Card and was transferred to Disputes.  The money had been taken from my account.  I was at the time a fleeing domestic violence victim and could ill afford to lose any money.  I was in Africa to care for my ailng father.

Well I contacted Rush Card Services each day.  Got nothing but the run-around, busy signals, hang ups and downright lies.

Then Augut , 2007 I received a letter in the mail dated June 30, 2007  I guess to make sure "I" thought they were keeping to the statutory number of days to resolve a dispute.  They sent me the formal form which I faxed right back on the 7th of August.  Despite my many attempts, I never heard from them again and became quite depressed with all I was going through and to loe $300 at this time was worse than ever.  No one ever handled the issue and once I faxed the dispute form back, that was that.

I would check every now and then over the years with no help, only broken phone lines, promises to look into the situation, etc.  They had my money and Bank of Africa was still willing to do what was necessary to make sure I got my money back.

Well 3 weeks ago I had enough.  Called Customer Service and spoke with a Customer Service repesentative in Manilla, Philipines named Love.  She tried to put the onus back on me!  No matter what, it is my money and my being depessed all these years did not help as I saw there was only so far Russell Simmons was going to allow any of us who filed a complaint to get.  Well Love promised to send a message to "Bancorp" and get back with me.  To this date, I have not heard from anyone.

Oh one tidbit of information Love did give me was that in January of 2008, get this they apparently contacted me by leaving a voice mail to tell me after all this time they did not receive the form!  I let Love know that I needed my money and if anyone from Rush Card had contacted me I would have gotten hold of them right away.  I asked that since I filed the appropriate paperwork in August 2007 from a document received then and dated June 30 why were they only getting around to this issue in January 2008.  

She had no answers for me.  I further asked that since by obviously had my fax number as well as my email address and above all my postal address, if they really could not reach me by phone (quite doubful) why did they not use any of the other mediums of communication I had given to them  to reach me?  She again had no answers.

I am tired of thieves working on behalf of Russell Simmons.  He does not need our money so why take it?  It does not belong to him or any employee of his so why do it?  I almost gave up because of the hassle of dealing with these rip off artists and my depression.  I could take no more.  But I have had enough of this.

They are unwilling to give me my money back and on top of that to get it back, they will have to put it back on a RushCard of all things which as many of you know are full of fees.  No way will I get the entire amount owed to me by the time they begin to nickle and dime me.  

I almost gave up but I can't afford to just give this kind of money away especially to a bunch of thieves and liars.

How do I do this?  How do I get them to give back my money and if they put it on a RushCard, they would have to put the fees for me to withdraw it all in one fell swoop, their fees and the fees of my bank's ATMs.  Anything less than that is unacceptable.

I need my money and I refuse to allow them to wait, earn interest on another seven years of my money.  Someody please help. Do NOT recommend this card to any of your friends or even your enemies.

I used their VISA Debit Card and never in my life have I seen a dispute for MasterCard or Visa take this long.
