We bought a puppy this summer from Rush Kennels. Our weimaraner arrived later than expected and the date kept being pushed back due to issues with their delivery system. When we got her, the dog that came guaranteed for health, had a large umbilical hernia. Our vet explained that umbilical hernias run the risk of the intestine descending into the hernia and if she got the slightest cut or nick it could cause her to bleed profusely. He also described a few other pretty terrible complications of this issue.

The hernia our dog came with was the size of a golf ball. When we sent the bill for her surgery to Rush Kennels, who right on their site speak of a guarantee, they sent back a letter saying that the hernia wasn't very big and that they had a vet certificate saying she was healthy. Note, we never saw this certificate.

Rush Kennels had originally given us a date to pick up this dog in May and then pushed it all the way to July informing us that she wasn't old enough. Overall communication with the kennel was very poor and left us with more worries than answers. Our dog is healthy (if a bit crazy) now, but we're out a good deal of money for this surgery and we already paid a lot for the puppy and shipping her up to MA. If she came health guaranteed they should have been good to their word and covered her surgery.

This business seems more and more like a puppy mill with every interaction we have with them.
