Well, After reading about Summit Group Publications, which I nearly also sent money to, I wanted to check up on the other place that 'rushed' me one of their lovely packets about stuffing mail. I've searched google, I've searched BBB, and most helpfully above all, I've searched here and could find no mention of SPI. Their addy is PO Box 600160 in San Diego, CA, and I don't think they've been there all that long, as my searches brought up a crane company that used to have that box in that city. (Which seems unrelated: They work for the department of transportation and I don't terribly think they'd need to scam my thirty dollars after seeing what the DOT pays them.

At any rate, since this may be a prior scam, as follows is the letter I recieved. I would appriciate it greatly if I can get feedback from anyone else who has interacted with this company, as I still find myself wishing that they will turn out not to be fraudulent. (I'm scraping for money pretty badly right now.) Please forgive any typos.

(They never identify what SPI stands for, and their email addy is at spicalifornia@yahoo.com rather than any company addy. Can anyone confirm or deny that this is a scam? I think if it's a new switch of a scam, that it's a good idea to get it up here so people know what it looks like. A response would be appriciated.)

SPI A California Corporation also has a website called www.spicalifornia.com. The Yahoo email address you have was probably provided, because personal emails are harder to trace. For customer inquiries and business investments, you have every right to locate the business, you paid in full. This individual has an obligation to share necessary info to public and customers. The Administrative and Technical Contact is: Mr. Micheal Jeffery. I notice you already have the "888" number, so I have another for you to try. I have not tried this number, listed in a BBB Report: 619-682-1058. This I suspect is a cell phone number.

Other email options to consider: support@spicalifornia.com or sales@spicalifornia.com. shamrocker4698@yahoo.com. Some of this information comes from internic. Mr. Jeffery Michael is registered through www.godaddy.com. They will not give you direct information, however they have to answer to the law just like the rest of us.

I've visited Mr. Micheal's site, and it is pretty sophisticated. Still have not found any physical address. I bet the San Diego Post Master has the physical address, which could be turned over to law enforcement.

I ran him through Google and found advertisements placed in numerous small publications. There seems to be an accumulation in Florida. So, FLORIDIANS BEWARE!!!!

The 888 number is everywhere and according to record, this is a new guy, in the envelope stuffer con. Post Masters may not be aware, so atleast contact your own. Your own Post Master may have something to offer.

This business does not percieve itself as providing a job. They claim to sell you a business opportunity, to become an independent contractor-blah-blah-blah. Remember Mr Jeffery Michael is registered through Go Daddy Software. This information is only of use primarily to law enforcement. If you plan on contacting the law, pass this information on to them.

For the person who provided a rebuttal from Florida, contact: Florida Consumer Protection: 1-800-HELP-FLA or http://www.800helpfla.com. They have a really nice web site. There is no cost, from what I could tell. Can't hurt to check it out.

Hope this helps.

I actually did try out this company, I got all the information, and as most companies do send out a larger better package than you thought you ordered, this one didn't. I paid $39.00 for the information I received, I have not used it yet, and don't intend to, according to the state, there are some serious Federal offenses that will be placed on my record if I do go much further than to mail the information back.

They send you the basic marketing equipment a babysitter would post on a mail box, and two differient black and white marketing pieces. As well as a little book..cute one at that, for the money you spend on them.

My complaint is that's it? We have researched this company, and the legislature has recieved a lot of complaints about this company. If there is no copyright mark on it, it's not legitamate, if there's no real name to go with the abbreviations, it's not legitamate, and before you go so far as to send the money out to them, research for complaints first. Use the supposed company name before you go much further. Some mistakes are made for the good of others.
