I had family in from Boston and needed a rental car. Saban had rented me car for 2 days. The cars check engine light had come on and the car began to run extremely rough. In fear that the car would break down or over heat, we took the car back the next day.

The guy at the counter offered us another car that was not equivalent to the car that I had originally rented. I walked outside to inform my aunt the offer they had made and when I went back in. An older guy behind the counter began yelling at me to leave accusing me of cursing at the younger guy.

They then came out and took the car and began to yell at us over the load speaker into the parking lot to leave the premises and that they would not give us another car. Stranded with my aunt from out of town and my 3-year-old daughter in the 110-degree weather.I informed them I was calling the police. The older man left before they arrived. The police arrived, who informed us I could put a stop payment on the amount they would be charging my account and file a dispute. Saban then charged my account for 2 full days, damages to the car that were already on the car and some other additional fees that were not on the original contract. This company is a rip off and needs to be stopped for the greater good of the public.

Go to your bank NOW!

#4Consumer Suggestion

Renee,

Go to your bank and file an affidavit of fraud regarding the charges from Saban's. If your bank refuses, you can preserve your right to dispute the charges by writing to the address on the your checking account statement. Just state that you did not authorize the charge.

Back around 1992 I tried to rent a car from Saban's at this same location. I recall a short stocky man managing the place. When I walked in he was on the phone trying to threaten an employee of the Arizona Department of Economic Security because they had scheduled an unemployment benefits hearing for one of Saban's ex-employees on a date when the manager was going to be on vacation. What made his call so memorable was that the manager from Saban's tried to instill fear in this poor state employee by claiming that the Arizona Attorney General was also the attorney for Saban's.

Needless to say, the state employee was not about to be swayed by the manager's pathetic threat. When the manager finally got off the phone his blood was boiling and he threw me out of his store without renting me a car.

Saban's can go screw themselves.

Not always the case

That is a good suggestion. Although in the event you used a debit card it is automatically deducted from your account and you have no other choice. It is not in the banks hand. What did happen is that they charged my debit card after I had already called the back to put a stop payment on the charge and for some reason or another the bank still put the amount through and informed me that the stop payment is not guaranteed. What is a consumer to do?

Call your credit card company

If you used a credit card company, call them immediately to not pay this. You will probably have to explain all the details to them but they can stop or change the payment to Saban.
