Complaint Review: GIANT MOVING AND STORAGE

Found onlne quote process for moving from Northern Virginia to central Florida. Filled out quote and received phone call several days later from moving "specialist", claimed his name was Gabe Suissa. We furnished full listing of all items including about 100+ boxes. At that time he stated the TOTAL bill for packing and shipping under 10,000 lbs. would be $1892.00. We agreed on a date. We are seniors retiring to a mobile home in Florida.

They arrived on the appointed day with 5 men wearing company tee shirts over their regular clothing. One man, an Isrealie, spoke Spanish to the men, they proceeded to begin packing and moving furniture into a straight truck, 24ft. long. We were told we had to furnish meals for the men. We refused, he stated he would reimburse us for the food when we returned from McDonalds! The men worked 11 1/2 hours, finishing loaking the truck at 11:45 pm. At that time, the foreman demanded a personal check for $3,500. I refused and told him to unload the truck immediately. He stated the unloadng would take an additional 11 hours and would cost $3,500 as well.

We paid by check and 2 weeks later (several days AFTER promised delivery date) the truck arrived with 2 men, also claiming to be Isrealie who stated they were told to collect a cahsiers check for $3,500.00 before they would unlock the truck. We proceeded to get the check, taking pictures of the truck and movers to document the rip-off. The 2 men, at the conclusion of the move stated they had only been paid $7.00 an hour and expected a tip! We refused. Within 1 week we filed a complaint with the Federal GOvernment and BBB in MD. No action has been taken to date. BEWARE, they also go by the name of SABRA Van Lines.
