I left on vacation and my car was not even 3 months late and they repoed my car. I only owe 1050 and they are asking for 2189.00. Plus 375.00 repossession fee and 225.00 for towing company. I called and the representative said I might get in trouble for saying this but you should take the money and get another vehicle. I invested 16,000.00 only owing one more year. I am upset and don’t know what to do. Please help me get my car back!

- This is a joke right? You are not really coming to a public web site, admitting you were deliquent, and then loosing all sanity in claiming they are ripping you off.

But on the off chance you are serious. They actually have the right, per the agreement you signed, to repossess the car the moment you are delinquent.  You are lucky they waited almost 3 months, many lenders would have done it within a month.  There was nothing in the agreement that stated you could just arbitrarily skip payments. There are several ways you could have made sure your payments were still made while you were on "vacation".   So any reposession that may have occured is 100% on you.

As for getting your car back. They told you what you need to do, come up with the $2789.00 they have required you to pay.

If you fail to do that they will sell the car at auction and if by chance it sells for less than the balance of the loan plus all of the fees you will still owe the difference. Failure to pay that difference will result in them taking further collection action that could include eventually filing a civil suit against you. Oh and a judge will not take too kindly to the "well I was on vaction" excuse.  If you get a judgement against you depending on your state they could Garnish your wages and/or just attach your bank accounts.

One other thing...with a Reposession on your record you can forget being able to get another car through any "regular" finance companies or dealers for quite a while.  You have now entered the "Sub-Prime" world of high interest, high fees, and even GPS trackers on the car.  So it is probably in your best interest to get that car back rather than try to get another one.
