We were contacted by Safe Ride by telephone stating that the warranty on our vehicle was about to expire. We were told that we could purchase an extended warranty that would cover basically bumper to bumper. After making what was essentially an impulse purchase comitting to $2250 we got the follow up e-mail from them which made it apparent that they were not representing Ford Motor Co. We have a 2000 Crown Victoria Interceptor that belonged to a municipality in Massachusetts, so there would not have been any warranty about to expire. After realizing our mistake we attempted to cancel. They at first reissued the warranty at a reduced price, then refused to accept the letter of cancellation we sent to them. They recently called us to say our account was past due and my husband told them we would be filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commision, which I have done. They had said that the cancellation was not done correctly and would not be honored. Since I filed the complaint they have decided to accept the Dura Lube back without the booklet that they had insisted we include with lines drawn through certain paragraphs. If enough of us file complaints with the FTC they will investigate and take action.
