Complaint Review: SAFECO INSURANCE

Safeco made an error in coverage of my auto insurance policy inspite of the fact that they were supplied with all the coorect information at the time of application. As a result my driver's license was suspended although the premiumms were paid in full every six month as agreed. As a result of this suspension, they attempted to raise my premiums, and refused to correct their error. After several attempts at calling them, and eventually talking to a "supervisor", I was told with no uncertain terms that my policy will not be renewed. I proceeded to secure alternative insurance coverage as of the date of expiry of the SAFECO policy.

To my surprise, they sent me a partial invoice for when they claim they cancelled the insurance coverage for "nonpayment". When I attemted to call their customer service, I was told there is nothing that can be done, and payment must be made. I requested to speak with a supervisor, my call was disconnected. They sent their invoice to a collection agency, and my credit rating went down because of that. The amount is a very small one, $27.38. But I refuse to succumb to what effectively is a form of blackmail: pay our bill even though we told you you will not have any coverage with us, and we did not provide proper coverage in the first place and caused your license to be suspended for lack of insurance coverage or we will refer your bill to a collection agency, and cause further harm by negatively affecting your credit. DO NOT do business with this company, they are incompetent, discourtious, arrogant, and dishonest.
