SAFECO INSURANCE GROUP Received fake check, for me to cash, claiming I won a drawing. SEATTLE Washington
I received an authentic looking check from SAFECO INSURANCE GROUP for the amount of $4,980.00. The letter indicated that the check is to pay the taxes on $250,000.00, which I had won in a drawning from a computer database. I didn't get excited, because it was to good to be true and decided to check for scams on the internet, which I did find someone who had received the same letter and check.
The check look real, but there was no return address on the envelope, which was mailed to Canada. The company is located in Seattle WA., the claim agent, Debra Richerdson (778) 317-0492 is located somewhere in the states, because of a Pacific Standard Time. The Tax Agent, Jenny Lowers, address is 2203 Kenson Ave., Red Dear, Canada, and the Senior Financial Executive is Michael Howard, (778) 881-0246. His picture is on the bottom of the letter.
They tell you in the letter that you are not required to make any payments with your own finances. They want you to cash this check and send them the money back for the taxes, and this will be money that the bank will charge you for. I am a senior, but I am not stupid, and these con people should be stopped immediately, because there are some elderly people that are not as alere as I am.
