I made an appointment for a root touch up and hair cut. The place was able to get me in for an appointment very quickly, the next day. I was under the impression that that was all I would be paying for: root touch up ($55) and hair cut ($20 for women). While I was getting my hair done, I thought to get my nails done there too, since they have nail techs on staff.

The nail tech pressured me into a $35 delux pedicure, even though I had initially wanted the basic. Once I saw how rushed, sloppy, incomplete and unsanitary was the service, I decided to forego the manicure. I also opted out of a hair cut because the tech who was going to cut my hair did not care enough to brush my hair prior to cutting it, and that was when I knew I could not trust them with my hair. Also, I had overheard another customer return for a correction of their hair cut, saying that their hair cut was crooked the previous day.

I got my bill for root touch up and pedicure and it was just a few cents shy of $200. I was initially surprised because I thought that this salon advertised prices better than their competitors and as a regular salon frequenter who visits salons which are located in better neighborhoods and a little bit higher end presentation, I was expecting to pay less. So the price seemed high but I gave them the $200 for what I thought was a root touch up and pedicure. Once I thought about the charges, however, I returned to the salon and requested a price break-down. The breakdown they gave me was $150 hair, and $35 for pedicure, plus tax but this does not match up with what is listed on their price sheet and the services I agreed to.

As mentioned, I go to salons regularly and the price seemed high. I believe that they were price gouging and I told them so, but they refused to refund any of the money paid, refused to break down the charges in a way that corresponded with their salon charges posted, and may have even charged me for services they did not perform. They laughed at me for asking questions and told me to "call [my] lawyer," and even the police if I wanted to. They also refused to give me the license number of the cosmetologist working on my hair, or the woman who did my toe nails, so not sure if the people performing services at this establishment are even licensed.

Obviously, I will not be visiting this salon again. However, I would like the public to know about the fact that, if you are someone who they guess has money to spend, they'll attract you with attractive prices for services. When it's time to pay up, they name a price that is much higher than you expected to pay. This is called bait-and-switch in business. According to their yelp reviews, they do this to customers occasionally. This is also price gouging. As mentioned, I go to the salon regularly and I know whats normal and what's not. The price was inflated.
