I just received the paper "prayer rug" in my mailbox today. I have never received this type of junk mail before so out of curiosity I opened it.

I read through the letter enclosed and had a good laugh with my husband as I read it out loud to him. I opend up the "prayer rug" and did as the enclosed letter stated. It is one of those optical illusion pictures and the eyes of Jesus faintly appeared to "open" and look at me. I thought that was kind of cool and had to give the scammers credit for entertainment value.

My husband quickly reminded me to slip the "prayer rug" into our family Bible to complete the good luck ritual. Of course we knew it was a joke and that a "donation" would be "suggested" if we really wanted good luck. Needless to say the whole letter and "prayer rug" is in the trash bin.

Out of curiosity again I came online and did a search for Saint Matthew's Churches and found this site. Interesting read and I thought I'd put in my two cents worth.

Hopefully this site will make people aware of this and all the other scams out there and they'll save their time and money. I suggest that people who need hope and prayers go and visit your local church, temple or mosque and join a real faith community prayer circle. Do some volunteer work at your local homeless shelter or VA hospital if you want to feel good. Don't be fooled by this con.
