Sallie Mae and more Student Assistant Corporation, Harrasement of not just Sallie Mae but others that claim to be a collection agency of Sallie Mae Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
I have a daughter, that has went to college for maybe a year and half. The school loans with Sallie Mae has come due. We started out paying what seem to be one and than before to long what seem was one loan became three to four.
The time the school loan came due, I had lost my job and my daughter had become pregnant and was out of work her self. We were down to one income, my husband and after being out of work almost a year we lost everything and fell behind on everything.
It has now been about four years and we have been trying to handle paying her school loans. The problem is everytime we call Sallie Mae we get the run around and now it seems what was now one loan they are saying was split into two loans plus one more loan that Wells Fargo has. They are several payment involve that we just cannot possiably pay.
We have tried paying at least something, worked out with one on a payment but the other two just say one thing and than another. After paying on the one they are now saying we are behind again.
We have sent in paper work to try and combine all three loans in to one to have one low monthly payment, but have not heard anything on it yet. The problem I have is every time I call, it not the same person, they don't make records of you calling, it seems like they have several phone numbers and different area that they work out of. I have gone to writing everything so there record of everything.
Now it not just Sallie Mae calling you have other companies calling on a dalily basis that say they represent Sallie Mae. When you call Sallie Mae they say they are there own collection agency and the other companies are fraud.
I started telling these companies that we only deal with Sallie Mae, that they are fraud according to Sallie Mae. It does not work not only do they call you but they call your family members, friends and people that barely know you. What happen to the privacy act? The other day a person was called looking for my daughter, she barely even knows. Is this not against my daughter rights? This person that was called, turned around and called my daughter saying Student Assistant Corporation was looking for her about her school loan. They gave this person information that she had no business knowing.
My mother says they call real early in the morning, all day long. She gotten to the point she says I don't know that person. At one time she was receiving around 6 or more phone calls a day, a different person and some time a different phone number.
Student Assistant Corporation is a loan company wanting to take over my daughter loan, they have nothing to due with her loans now and they are the worse of many phone calls.
All we are asking is for help, to have one manageable payment, so we can pay this debt. Instead all we get is harrasing phone calls, many different answers and nothing ever solved. Does anyone know where we can go to get help, maybe a lawyer to call or someone that can help us get these loans under control and have the harrasing phone call stop, especially to people that have nothing to due with loans.
I thought about writing to congress, BBB, President, who ever to be heard of the many phone calls are getting out of hand expescially telling other people information and calling them several times a day. I just don't know anymore. We try to work with Salli Mae and Wells Fargo and just don't get anywhere. We are banging our head against the wall.
My advice is if anyone trying to go to college, please stay away from school loans. It's a trapment of loans that never end and become your worse night mare. Soon one loan become two and three and than everything become out of hand and you loose track of what is owed and what school has put a claim in to Sallie Mae. Run, run away and never look back when it comes to school loan.
Has anyone gone through this or going through this that have found answer. I would love to hear from you.

Similar Sallie Mae Call Symptoms
#2Consumer Suggestion
Fri, December 30, 2011
I empathize and share a similar situation as the one described. The constant calls and the frustration of trying to do the best one can with what you have, but feeling like your efforts are not good enough and that your voice is not being heard.
From what I read in your post you were getting the same run around that I did. There are two sides of SallieMae: The Federal Loans and the Private Loans. SLM has the Office of the Customers Advocate which will appear helpful especially for the Federal Loans and I have used them to document on their own people and for sending in Discharge of Loan Applications. However, there are the Private Loans reps which are the ones I believe you refer mostly to in this post. THEY practice in straight up debt-collection strategies. Their tactics can seem intimidating and very dishonest (fraudulent) to say the least. Then, it's very hard getting in touch with SallieMae supervisors and management to let anyone at an Executive level know what's going on.
Nevertheless, there is some recourse in that one can do all of the following: file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (877-382-4357), the Attorney General's Office, and file a police report for Harassing Communication if you have asked the company to stop calling your home (ask verbally and in writing).
In this post, I would also like to share a method of what has seemed to work for me in stopping the disrespectful telephone dialogue and annoying calls with SLM/SallieMae Reps:
ALTERNATIVES (I USED): WHEN THE ### to SLM/SALLIEMAE DO NOT WORK
First, I want to share this brief story to give some idea as to where I came up with my plan. Some years ago, when my daughter was a teenager she got mad and refused to return my calls. She was being somewhat of a brat (as teenagers can be) all because she wanted to stay out past her curfew. So, I decided to contact each one of her friends and told them in my "nicest mommy voice" to tell her to come home. It was very embarrassing for her; but she did get the message...and did come straight home.
The gist here is that NO ONE is too insulated or isolated. I can also attest to what you mentioned that SallieMae reps seem to make a habit of contacting its customers and or their relatives or friends (or even old out of date contacts) non-stop--even when they've been told not to call any more. The sheer hypocrisy is that customers are not given contact information to escalate an issue to the up-line. However, if a customer has a problem and no one is listening, I think that matter should even be heard by the board members if possible, or any other sources connected to SallieMae. No one is unreachable.
As CEO of SLM aka SallieMae (aka GRC or whatever other names the Entity goes by), Mr. Albert L. Lord has many business associates and sits on a few boards. For example one source cites Mr. Lord as (SallieMae.com):
